Chapter 17: A Love Hidden in Shadows (Part 11)

(POV: Ahn Min-jae – Striking First)

---

The First Move

I wasn't going to wait for my father to make his next move. I knew him too well—he was already plotting his next attack, and if I gave him time, he'd find a way to manipulate the system against us.

I needed to strike first.

The moment we left the courthouse, I turned to Hyun-seok. "Find everything you can on my father's illegal dealings. If there's anything that could bury him, I want it."

Hyun-seok nodded. "I'll start digging. But Min-jae… are you sure about this? If you go after him like this, there's no turning back."

I glanced at Soo-min, who was holding our daughter protectively, worry clear in her eyes.

"He declared war first. I'm just finishing it."

A Dangerous Discovery

That night, Hyun-seok called me with something big.

"Min-jae, you need to see this."

I met him at his office, and the moment I stepped in, he handed me a file.

I opened it—and felt my blood turn ice cold.

It was a financial report. A fake one.

A report that made it look like I had committed fraud in my company.

"Your father is setting you up," Hyun-seok said grimly. "This is how he plans to destroy you. He's making it look like you embezzled millions from your company. If this gets out, you won't just lose custody—you'll lose everything."

I gritted my teeth.

He was trying to ruin me completely.

I took a deep breath. "How do we stop him?"

Hyun-seok hesitated. "There's one way. We find the original documents before he releases these fake ones. If we prove he forged them, he'll be the one going down."

I smirked. "Then let's take him down."

Soo-min's Strength

When I got home, Soo-min was waiting for me.

"What did you find out?" she asked softly.

I sat down, rubbing my face. "He's trying to frame me for fraud."

Her expression hardened. "Then we fight back."

I looked at her, surprised by how steady she was.

"You're not scared?" I asked.

She shook her head. "I'm done being scared of him. He tried to take our daughter. He wants to ruin our family. If we don't stop him now, he'll never stop."

I pulled her into my arms, pressing a kiss to her forehead.

"Then we fight together."

The Break-in

If my father had the original documents, I needed to find them before he destroyed them.

That's why, two nights later, I found myself standing outside his office building.

Hyun-seok had managed to trace the location of his hidden files, and now I was going in to take them back.

As I stepped into the dark office, I moved fast, searching through the cabinets.

Then—I found it.

A locked safe.

I pulled out the small hacking device Hyun-seok gave me and placed it on the keypad. Within seconds, the lock clicked open.

Inside were stacks of documents.

I grabbed them all, scanning the papers.

And then—

I froze.

Because in the middle of all those documents…

Was something I never expected to find.

A birth certificate.

And the name on it?

Ahn Min-jae.

But under "Father's Name"… it wasn't my father's name.

It was someone else entirely.

My entire world tilted.

What the hell was this?
