chapter 10

LEONARDO

I watched Lyxaria as she ran into the bathroom and locked the door. I heard a knock on the room door. The door opened and Alfredo walked in.

"What do you want?" I asked him.

"We have gotten all the information we need from the guys."

"Good. You can finish them off. Dump their bodies in the San Francisco territory. Let's leave it as a warning."

"Yes boss..." He hesitated

"What do you want Alfredo?"

"Was that not Lyxaria Bishop? Your future wife from yesterday?" I knew that was what he wanted to ask about.

"Yes she is." I replied him. I felt glad when I heard him refer to her as my future wife. She was already damned to be my future wife no matter what.

"Boss. I don't mean to jump into conclusion but what if she is a spy for the san Francisco bratva. What if they told her to spy on us."

I could feel the coldness coming out of me and I knew Alfredo could feel it from across the room.

"What do you mean Alfredo?" I asked him. If he was just an ordinary soldier I would have had his head cut off by now.

"It was just a suggestion boss. I did not mean to doubt her intentions or anything."

He quickly responded.

"Keep your fucking suggestions to yourself next time Alfredo or you will have your head in your hands." I threatened. And he knows well enough that it was not a mere threat.

He quickly excuse himself and left lyxaria's room.

I had an important business meeting by 10 o'clock so I had to get ready.

I will have to talk to the maids downstairs to attend to Lyxaria's needs.

LYXARIA

I only stepped out of the bathroom when I heard the room door close the second time.

I came out to find the room empty snd I could not help to breath a sigh of relief.

I quickly reached for my phone that was beside the bed and switched it on.

I hadn't turned it on since I was in Brooklyn after Leonardo had barged into my hotel room.

When the phone came up. Different messages and missed calls popped up. I saw 10 missed call from the man who calls himself my father. I had 3 missed calls from my stepmother and 2 from Lyra. I wonder why Lyra my step sister had called. I can bet on my life that she did not care about my whereabouts. If anything she and my step mother must have been the happiest people ever. I can't believe I gave them a chance to be happy. I had made a vow to myself that I'll make sure my eveil step mother and Lyra will never be happy.

I quickly scrolled past them and I saw Sage's own. She left me 15 missed calls and 33 messages. I quickly called her back before she has a panic attack.

"Thank God you called Lyx." She answered the call immediately it rang. I can guess how worried she must have been.

"I'm fine Sage. I'm back in NewYork." I updated her.

"What happened. Was it your dad's men that was at the door." She asked panicking.

"It wasn't. It was Leonardo that was at the door. He brought me back to NewYork yesterday." I quickly replied. I could not let her start overthinking right now.

" Where are you now.?"

"I'm in Leonardo's house." I answered her

"What? Does your father know?" She quickly asked me.

"I don't think so. I knew my father will kill me if I ever came back home so I asked Leonardo to help me."

"This is so much Lyx. I hope you are okay." She asked me

" I am. It's better than staying in my

Father's house." I replied.

I could feel her hesitating from the other end of the Phone.

" You can ask me anything Sage. Don't hesitate."I quickly assured her.

" Okay." She sighed. " Are you still going to marry him?"

" I don't know Sage. If it means I get protection from my insane father then I might consider it."

" Will you try running away again?" She asked further. I understood her fear. If I was an irrational young woman running away for the second time would have been my first option and I know it won't end well. I will either have a bullet stuck into my back or if Leonardo is more lenient I'll be dragged back into the house and forced to live here or worse.

"I won't. For now. I have better things to worry about." I assured her. And I knew that was the truth.

I heard her breathe a sigh of relief and I could not help but smile.

I heard a knock from the door and i bid Sage goodbye. I promised to call her again.

"Come in" I told the person that knocked on the door.

"Good morning miss Bishop. I am Agatha and I'm the head maid. Master Demarco asked me to show you around." I nodded my head and quickly got down from the bed. Thank God I had showered during the time I was 'hiding in the bathroom.'

We both stepped out of the room and I locked the door.

We walked throught the corridor and she showed me different rooms in there. The room that was right beside mine was for Leonardo. I never knew his room was so close to mine.

I quickly averted my thoughts before it started running wild.

We passed a door that was closed shut and I could not help but ask.

"What room is that?" I asked pointing at the locked room.

"That's the boss home office. He does not allow anyone in there except from his right hand man. He gets really upset when anyone disturbs him while working so we try to stay clear from his office." She explained.

I nodded my head as I listened to her carefully. I need to gather enough information if I'm going to survive here. It's not like I'm planning to live here forever.

I heard Agatha chuckled nervously and I turned to look at her.

" I'm sorry if you feel like I'm talking too much. But I want to ask what is your relationship with the boss?"

'why all do a sudden. I don't even know how to introduce myself to her or anyone.'

" Why do you ask?" I asked carefully.

" Well... Because this is the first time the boss has ever brought a woman to the house and allowed her to spend the night. So all of us think that maybe you are special." She whispered. Before I could respond.i heard footsteps coming from behind me.

"You were asked to show her around Agatha not gossip with her." I heard a cold voice coming from behind me.

I turned around to see the same man who i had seen in the basement yesterday. He wore glasses that made him look calm and collected. Nothing like a Mafia person. But maybe his looks are deceiving. I have made up my mind not to trust anyone or doubt anyone in this house.

I turned to Agatha and I could see her fidgeting nervously.

"She was just filling me in on the information I need to know." I quickly interjected.

I won't let her get hurt for just trying to be friendly with me. But a part of me was curious to see if he was really going to punish or hurt her. I doubt that.

I stared at him for sometime trying to gauge his expression but I got nothing. His expression was guarded and there was nothing much to see with the glasses in the way.

He stared back at me and when I thought he was not going to leave he turned around and left. "Carry on ladies." He said before walking back in the direction he came from.

I did not notice the pressure was right until he left and I felt free again.

I wasn't scared of him. Just wary.

"Can we continue?" I turned to Agatha who was still shaking nervously.

I decided not to comment. Not because I don't care but because I felt like I won't like what I was going to hear. And I wasn't ready for any more drama in less than 24 hours.

She led me through the corridor and all the way downstairs showing me different rooms.

I noticed that she did not speak more than required and she looked more reserved.

I wonder who that guy was and what he was capable of to inflict such fear in her by mere words.

I really wanted to find out.
