In my entire life, I have never felt so useless and helpless. I have always believed in my instinct about any decisions I want to make. But, after all, I'm a human. I will surely make some mistakes, isn't it? I tried to calm myself.
"Yes!" but this is so disappointing!
How could I?
How could I get pregnant without being married?
The horror of this is that, I got pregnant on a one-night stand. So horrible.
For a total stranger that I don't even know!
" Tara! You seem so lost, which cloth should I wear to the party tonight?" Anna, one of my roommates, asks, frowning.
I jolt back to the present and look around me, there are clothes flying everywhere around the room.
" What's all this?" I asked, pointing to the clothes on my bed.
" It's okay, I will clean this up for you, but can I borrow some of your clothes for tonight's party?" Anna asks, smiling.
" Sure, just make sure you rearrange my closet." I said as I turned back to my book.
" What book are you reading?" Anna asks.
" A Shakespeare work." I answered curtly.
" The title?" She asks.
" Midsummer night's dream." I answered.
" Are you sure you're not coming along?" She asks.
" No!" I yelled.
" Why are you yelling at me." She asks.
" Oh! Are you still angry at me because I left you at the party about three-week ago? But I apologized already. I'm sorry, I had to leave due to the emergency at my department in the hospital. She pleads.
" No, I'm sorry I yelled at you, I understand you wouldn't do that to me intentionally, and that you really have to leave to save a life, I wouldn't sulk over something like that! But I have to get up early tomorrow, the company I submitted my resume to called me in for an interview some minutes ago." I said.
"What!" She shrieked.
"Oh my God, Tara! That's huge! We have to celebrate." She said, jumping up and down like a kindergarten kid.
" I'm so happy for you." She said, pulling me into a chocking hug.
" Please let's go of me, you're strangling me." I screamed.
She let go of me, and I was left gasping for air.
" You are coming with me tonight." She said, dragging me up on my feet.
I resisted, but she kept on disturbing me, we were in the middle of that when Sophie, our third roommate, the party bee arrived.
" Guys, I'm home." Sophie announced in her beautiful tiny voice.
" Welcome." Anna and I chorused as we hugged her in turn.
" Guys, guess what!" She asks joyfully.
" What!" When chorus anxiously.
"I got a promotion today!" She said.
" I am now the senior marketing director." She announces screaming.
" Wow, that's so great, from marketing analyst to senior marketing director. That's wonderful." I chirped in awe.
We jubilate and congratulated her.
Sophie has been working for this company for five years without getting any promotions, she is a very hard-working person. A goal setter and getter. She is so passionate about taking care of me and Anna, we are all sisters from the orphanage.
She loves her social life and loves claiming to be the eldest among us. We left the orphanage ten years ago.
I was only eleven, Annabelle was also the same age as me, and Sophie was only fifteen years old.
The orphanage went bankrupt due to mismanagement of funds, illegal adoption and child trafficking.
" We are going all night and the bill is on me." Sophie announced whistling.
" Yay! " Anabelle joins in.
" Tara, why are you so cold, I'm not forcing you to come along, we will bring your package home, you can stay here for all care!" Sophie said in frustration.
"Hum...huh" I felt my hand trembling.
"What is it again!" Ana retorted angrily
"I am pregnant." I remark sharply.
" What!" They shrieked in disbelief.
" I said I am preg…nant!" I voice out in frustration.
" Calm down, Tara, take a deep breath." Sophie said, helping me sit on my bed.
" I'm so sorry I let you down, I am so sorry." I said, sobbing uncontrollably.
" Shhh… Shh… It's okay." Sophie said helping me calm down.
" How far are you gone?" Anna asks as soon as she recovers from shock.
" Two weeks gone." I answered curtly.
" How did this happen. As in, you're always indoor and the bookworm, so how does this happen." Anna asks in annoyance.
" Annabelle, please stop scaring her." Sophie said, cautioning her.
" Who is responsible for this damn pregnancy." Anna yells at me.
" Please stop that. Just give her time to compose herself." Sophie said shutting Anna up.
" Tara gets some rest, we will talk about it tomorrow." Sophie said calmly.
" I got an invitation to an interview tomorrow." I said.
" Wow. That's my girl, I'm so proud of you, I know you will surely get the job." Sophie said, kissing my forehead and patting my hair.
" As I said earlier, take some rest, we will bring your package. Hamburger and cappuccino, right?" She asks, smiling.
" Yes, I'm craving that a lot. I need two cups of that." I replied chuckling.
" She can't be consuming that much of caffeine." Anna said, facing Sophie and behaving as if I didn't exist.
" Doctor Annabelle said you can't consume that amount of caffeine, so I will get you only one cup." She said, smiling at me.
" Anna, go to your room and get dressed, we don't have all day." Sophie said to Anna, who stood in a corner, staring a dagger at me.
Sophie drags her out of the room, and they get dressed in their evening ware and usually, they come to my room to twirl for me to compliment on their dressing, but tonight only Sophie came in, Anna stood at the entrance watching Sophie as she twirls for me to comment.
After a while, they took their leave and locked the door.
As soon as they left, I returned to the living room and slumped down on the chair in the living area.
Tears poured down my eyes, I felt so lost and slept off on the couch.
