ON THE SHIP, Daris set Toren on the Nebos and turned to face JP. Render stood next to the window and leaned on the glass. Seabee took her usual perch as the alien glared. JP shrugged. 


“I will share the details with my creator,” Daris murmured to JP and Ike. “I have no intention of hiding this attempt on my life.” The next king placed his middle tentacles on his hips as he spoke. “But isn’t that the point of giving me skilled guards? They did what you wanted. Render and Toren protected me. I didn’t need Ike.” 


“Daris has a point.” Ike took off his face covering and handed the items to the Nebos. “We can discuss this later, and I’d like to watch the altercation so I can assess their fighting skills.” 


“We should also discuss the fact that the Nebos likes the fire here.” 


“I am pleased about that,” Ike sighed. "I look forward to sharing that with the court."
