RENDER WALKED UP the familiar fluffy carpet toward the Queen of Albeon. It wasn’t lost on him that this was how it all started. But it wasn’t just the queen with her guards and the Fire Elders near her throne today. 


JP and the king of the Dagerstanteens stood near the queen. As he entered the room with Ike and Sloan, he spotted Anoka playing by the fireplace with Elder Rolla. She ran to him when she spotted him. 


The little girl looked healthier than he’d ever seen her. She wore a black dress like the Fire Elders, and as she ran, there was no ash. Amazing. 


“Look at you, Ann.” He scooped her up and hugged her. 


“Anoka,” Rolla said, coming to his side. “Warrior Render needs to talk to the queen. You must wait, and you will sit with me.” 


Anoka wiggled out of his arms. She grabbed Rolla’s hand.
