“WHAT’S WRONG, DUCKY?” Nigel asked with a flicker of concern.
“You think you’re going back to Umicore Prime?” It wasn’t a question, but a flat statement of disbelief.
Nigel’s eyebrows rose. Pete knew he was from there. He knew that was his home. Why was he surprised?
“Of course, I’m going back to Umicore Prime. Where else would I go?”
“Nowhere,” Pete’s brow furrowed deep with confusion. “You’re supposed to live here with me. That is what I pictured.” Pete wagged his head back and forth, a clear sign of distress. “I told you that. I told you that I wanted to find a beloved and bring him home.”
“Mate, you were talking about a human.” Nigel frowned, genuinely confused. “Not me.”
“Yes.” Pete’s brown eyes went wide, brimming with conviction. “You.”
