Chapter 75: Pete gets angry.
NIGEL COLLIDED WITH Pete, who caught him instantly, strong tentacles wrapping around his body.
“Nigel?” Pete’s voice was sharp with concern.
Nigel dropped to his knees, his limbs suddenly weak. A sickening wave of dizziness rolled over him, making his vision dance and blur. He forced himself to his feet, swaying precariously, his body shaking uncontrollably. He blinked rapidly, desperately trying to clear his sight, but the spider’s burrow dipped and spun like a drunken top. His weapon was no longer in his tentacle. He realized, with a hazy alarm, that Pete now held both pistols.
“Nigel?”
“Boshwalkin got the better of me,” Nigel gritted out, his teeth clenching, as he tried to push himself up again. “It happens, mate.”
Somehow, Nigel found himself on the floor once more, the cavern ceiling swirling like a distorted galaxy in his vision.
“You were poisoned,” Pete’s words drifted to him, thin and distant, as if from another room.
