The next morning, Taehyung arrived at Kim Enterprises, his usual cold and commanding demeanor in place. The sleepless night had left him irritable, but he masked it well behind his stoic expression. As he stepped into his office, his sharp eyes caught sight of a familiar presence—Jeon Jungkook.
Jungkook stood by the window, dressed impeccably in a tailored suit that emphasized his striking features. He turned slowly, a smirk tugging at the corners of his lips as he met Taehyung's gaze. "Good morning, CEO Kim. I hope you slept well."
Taehyung narrowed his eyes. Something about Jungkook felt... off. It wasn't just his confidence—it was the way he looked at him, as if he knew something Taehyung didn't. "I don't recall allowing my employees to make themselves comfortable in my office without permission."
Jungkook chuckled, stepping forward. "I'm just here to finalize some documents for the upcoming merger. I figured I'd wait for you."
Taehyung's jaw clenched. He didn't like the way Jungkook moved, the way his presence felt both familiar and foreign. "Then do your job and leave. I don't have time for unnecessary distractions."
Jungkook's smirk deepened, but before he could respond, voices from outside the office caught his attention. He turned slightly, his sharp ears picking up the conversation among a group of employees.
"Have you seen CEO Kim today? He looks unreal. That suit should be illegal."
"Ugh, I know. He's the definition of perfection. If only he weren't so untouchable."
"Who says he's untouchable? Choi Min-yu practically claims he has him wrapped around his finger. I heard she spends late nights in his office."
Jungkook's expression darkened instantly, the easy smirk vanishing. His fingers curled into fists as jealousy, sharp and unexpected, surged through him. How dare they speak about Taehyung as if he belonged to anyone else? Worse, the idea of someone claiming him—someone touching him—made his blood boil.
Choi Min-yu, Taehyung's secretary, was known for his sharp tongue and flirtatious nature, but for him to spew such lies—unimaginable. Jungkook's wolf snarled in his mind, possessiveness flaring hot. His mate was right there, a few feet away, unaware of how these people spoke about taking what was his.
He turned back to Taehyung, eyes dark with unspoken rage. But the CEO was watching him carefully, as if noticing the sudden shift in his demeanor. Jungkook forced a breath, shoving down the irrational jealousy clawing at his chest. He wasn't supposed to feel this way—not yet.
Still, his voice was lower when he finally spoke, his usual teasing edge replaced by something sharper. "Of course, sir. But distractions?" He leaned in just slightly, voice dropping to a whisper. "I wonder who's really distracted here."
Taehyung's fingers twitched as Jungkook turned on his heel and walked out, but not before throwing a cold glare at the gossiping employees outside. The idea of anyone else thinking they could have Taehyung—thinking they could claim him—made his wolf restless.
And that was dangerous.
