Chapter 28: Firearms

Chen Yao finally let out a sigh of relief, wiped away her tears, and quickly took her seat in the driver's cabin.

Yue Zhong commanded, "Drive to the police station."

Chen Yao immediately started the bus and headed toward the police station.

Yue Zhong turned to Chi Yang and said, "Chi Yang, you stay here and protect them. I'll go inside to look for weapons. If anything seems off, call me immediately!"

With Ji Qingwu, who was skilled enough to kill S1s, now injured and unable to fight because of Chen Yao, Yue Zhong had no choice but to leave Chi Yang behind to protect the group.

Chi Yang picked up Ji Qingwu's imitation Tang sword and responded curtly, "Don't worry."

Once everything was settled, Yue Zhong, Bai Gu, and Chi Yang quickly got off the bus and began frenziedly killing the zombies circling around it.

After clearing out the dozen or so zombies outside the bus, Yue Zhong and Bai Gu quickly rushed into the police station.

As soon as they entered the station, five zombies in tattered police uniforms with gnawed faces started approaching Yue Zhong and Bai Gu.

Yue Zhong took a swift step forward, and with a flash of his blade, he cut down three of the zombies.

The remaining two were easily dispatched by Bai Gu.

After dealing with the zombies, Yue Zhong walked over to them, put on gloves, and took the guns holstered at their waists.

Among the five zombies, three had pistols. Yue Zhong managed to acquire three Type 54 pistols and 15 rounds of ammunition.

Yue Zhong quickly stashed the guns and ammo into his backpack. Compared to his unreliable shooting skills, his imitation Tang sword was far more effective at killing zombies.

Yue Zhong continued his search and soon arrived at the gun storage room.

The gun storage room and the ammo storage room were among the most heavily secured areas in the police station. Each was protected by heavy iron doors and security grilles. In front of Yue Zhong was a tightly closed iron door.

Yue Zhong glanced at the door and commanded Bai Gu, "Destroy this door!"

Following Yue Zhong's order, Bai Gu swung its axe and delivered a powerful blow to the iron door.

Bai Gu, now at Level 9, possessed physical attributes 80% higher than those of an ordinary human. Its full-force strike was terrifyingly powerful. With a loud crash, the iron door was dented deeply, leaving a noticeable axe mark.

After eight consecutive strikes, Bai Gu finally broke the lock and pushed the heavy iron door open.

"Freeze! Put your hands up!"

As soon as the door opened, a sharp female voice rang out.

Yue Zhong looked inside and saw a female police officer in uniform, her chest well-endowed, and strikingly beautiful, probably around 25 or 26 years old, pointing a Type 54 pistol at him.

While Yue Zhong was sizing her up, the female officer was also studying him. When she noticed the special skeleton, Bai Gu, standing beside Yue Zhong, her eyes widened in disbelief. Skeletons were creatures that only existed in fantasy stories, impossible to encounter in real life.

"Bai Gu, grab her!" Yue Zhong sidestepped and commanded Bai Gu.

Bai Gu obeyed, charging toward the female officer, its claws moving like meteors as it reached for her.

Bang! Bang!

The sharp sound of gunfire rang out as the female officer unhesitatingly fired several shots at Bai Gu.

The bullets lodged into Bai Gu's bones, but it only shuddered slightly before grabbing the officer's right hand, disarming her, and forcefully pinning her to the ground.

After the gunshots ceased, Yue Zhong walked in through the front door.

"Who are you? This is the police station's gun storage room. Unauthorized entry is a crime," the female officer on the ground glared at Yue Zhong and shouted.

Yue Zhong walked over to her and waved his hand. Bai Gu released the woman it had restrained. "My name is Yue Zhong. I'm sorry, but the world has changed. I need weapons to arm myself and survive. I mean no harm. Officer, may I ask your name?"

"My name is Su Ruxue. What is that thing?" Su Ruxue stood up, pointing at Bai Gu, the special skeleton standing beside Yue Zhong.

Yue Zhong asked, "Did you hear the voice that called itself 'God'?"

"I did! You heard it too?" Su Ruxue's expression changed. She had thought that strange voice was something only she heard.

Yue Zhong explained, "This skeleton is one of the abilities, or rather skills, I gained from the God and Demon System."

Su Ruxue's eyes gleamed with curiosity as she pressed, "How can I get such an ability?"

Bai Gu, this special skeleton, was impervious to bullets and possessed extraordinary combat abilities. Su Ruxue wanted to obtain such a remarkable skill for herself.

Yue Zhong replied nonchalantly, "As long as you're willing to hunt zombies and acquire the corresponding skill books, you can learn those skills."

"Are you the gun custodian?" Yue Zhong asked Su Ruxue.

Su Ruxue shook her head. "No! Can you give me back my gun?"

"No!" Yue Zhong refused firmly. He couldn't let someone he didn't know hold a weapon that could threaten him.

The Level 2 protective clothing could withstand small-caliber bullets, but it didn't cover the head. A single shot to Yue Zhong's skull would be fatal.

"Break open this safe!" Yue Zhong glanced at the gun safe in the room and commanded Bai Gu.

Bai Gu swung its axe, hacking away at the safe's lock. After three strikes, the lock was shattered.

Yue Zhong opened the safe, revealing rows of firearms.

"Type 54 pistols, Type 79 submachine guns, Type 85 sniper rifles… good stuff, really good stuff!" Yue Zhong's eyes lit up with excitement as he looked at the collection of firearms inside the safe.

Firearms represented power, and only with powerful weapons could one survive better in this apocalyptic world.

After several enhancements, Yue Zhong was no longer afraid of ordinary zombies, but his strength alone was limited. Close combat was physically exhausting, and with firearms, he could survive more effectively.

Yue Zhong quickly packed up the guns, carrying some himself and having Bai Gu carry the rest.

He glanced at Su Ruxue and asked, "Do you plan to stay here, or will you come with me?"

"I'll go with you!" Su Ruxue answered without hesitation. Staying here would only mean death, and she didn't want to die.
