Chronicles of Azure – Chapter 5: The Lost City Below
---
Scene 1: Falling into Darkness
Kael's heart pounded as he, Lyria, and Iris plummeted through the crumbling underground cavern. The wind howled around them, and the neon glow of Skyhaven vanished above, swallowed by shadow.
Kael gritted his teeth. "Lyria, any chance you can—"
Before he could finish, Lyria instinctively activated her gravity powers. The air around them shifted, and their fall slowed just enough for them to land on a rocky ledge instead of plummeting into the endless abyss.
Kael groaned, rolling onto his back. "Okay… that sucked."
Iris sat up, rubbing her head. "I swear, if I die because of you two, I'm haunting you."
Kael smirked. "You'd make an annoying ghost."
Lyria, still weak, knelt beside them. "Where… are we?"
They turned to look around—
And froze.
Before them lay an ancient city, hidden beneath Skyhaven. Crumbling spires, overgrown bridges, and eerie blue light pulsed from strange crystals embedded in the ruins. Waterfalls cascaded from above, feeding into a massive underground lake that reflected the glow of a floating monolith in the distance.
Iris let out a low whistle. "Okay… this is officially the coolest thing I've ever seen."
Kael narrowed his eyes. "This place… it shouldn't exist."
Lyria stared at the monolith, her expression distant. Something about this place felt familiar.
Then—a deep growl echoed through the ruins.
Kael tensed. "Yeah, of course, there's something down here."
From the shadows, a massive creature emerged—a guardian made of stone and glowing blue veins, its eyes burning with ancient energy.
It had awakened.
And it wasn't happy.

Scene 2: The Guardian's Trial
The guardian slammed its massive fist down, sending a shockwave through the ruins. Kael and Iris barely dodged, rolling in opposite directions.
"Any brilliant ideas?!" Iris shouted.
Kael flicked his Aether Blades to life. "Not die?"
Iris groaned. "Great. We're doomed."
The guardian roared, charging again—
But before it could strike, Lyria stepped forward.
Her violet eyes glowed, and the gravity around them shifted violently.
The creature slowed, as if the weight of the entire world pressed down on it. Its massive body trembled, pieces of stone cracking under the pressure.
Lyria's voice was quiet but firm. "Stop."
The guardian hesitated. Then, to their shock, it knelt before her.
A pulse of ancient energy surged through the ruins, and the floating monolith ahead began to glow brighter.
Kael stared. "Okay. That was new."
Lyria, breathing heavily, turned to them. "I think… this place is connected to me."
Iris folded her arms. "So, what? You're some kind of lost princess of an underground kingdom?"
Lyria hesitated, looking at the monolith. "No… I think it's something worse."

Scene 3: The Celestial Order Moves
Meanwhile, back in Skyhaven, Rai Kurogane stood before Grandmaster Zephyrus, the leader of the Celestial Order.
Zephyrus, his mechanical arm glowing with blue energy, turned to Rai. "You let them escape."
Rai, unshaken, responded, "They fell into the depths. They won't survive."
Zephyrus smirked. "You underestimate them. But it no longer matters."
He raised his hand, and a holographic map of the underground city appeared.
"The girl has reached the ruins. It's only a matter of time before she unlocks the truth."
Rai's single red eye narrowed. "And when she does?"
Zephyrus's smile darkened.
"We take her. Alive."
