CHLOEIR, THE APOSTLE OF WORLD

I found myself in a cave like space, sitting on my butt in small puddle of water. There was a reflection of dark sky above me in the water. In front of me, a lady two meters tall was standing with her gaze set on me. She had eyes of black color same was with her hair. She was standing in the puddle, her dress up to her knees, drenched in water. The area I found myself in was vast with seemingly no end. I was analyzing the situation when she spoke to me in her elegant but sharp voice. 

"You are the one who couldn't meet his fate." She repeated her sentence but changed a few words. 

"Am I....uh... dead?" I also did the same thing. 

"It seems like you come from a seemingly stupid species! Why are you repeating the same question when I am not answering it."  

She said that in an offbeat voice. I was surprised by the way she talked to me just now, honestly. She addressed me like I was not a normal person heck, she even taunted me. Who even is this lady and where the hell I am? 

"So, I will change my question then. Who are you?" I said it in a suppressed voice. Of course, I was scared because of all the things I witnessed just a few minutes ago and suddenly there was a lady two meters tall standing in front of me and it looks like she is not fond of me. Shit, I am in some serious trouble. 

When I asked my question, she looked a bit happy at least because I saw a faint smile on her face. 

"Ehm, I am Chloeir, controller of paths and one of the apostles of world." She said that while suppressing her smile. She was really excited as her cheeks were flushed red showing her excitement. I wonder why is that? 

"Oh, great apostle of world why am I here?" I miserably tried to show my respect to her. 

"You ignorant human! Why do you think you were brought here? It's because at this moment you are on the brink of death."  Yeah, it really doesn't look like she's fond of me. 

Wait, what? She said I am on the brink of death? So, it means I am not dead yet! 

"So, am I going to be reincarnated into another world?" I hurriedly asked her. 

"Hold your horses! Where did all the respect go? Did you forget your basic etiquettes?" Her voice roared so loudly the surrounding started to vibrate vigorously. 

"I am sorry! I am sorry! O, great apostle of world, please enlighten me with your glorious knowledge. Tell me what's about to happen to my poor soul." I tried to sound respectful as best as I could. 

"Hmph, you were not supposed to die today. But you went and died by yourself. If only you would have gone home and stayed there like a good boy." She started to scream at me. 

"Shit, so I am really going to die at the end!" I dropped the act and said what was on my mind. I was truly afraid of dying and was about to cry in despair. 

"Yes, you are!" She confirmed my doubts. "But there is a reason I brought you here." 

"So, I am going to repeat my questions. Why am I here?" I asked what was important. 

"You brat! Where are your manners? Well, whatever, I will tell you the reason I went out of my way and brought you here." She continued on, "As I told you earlier, today was not the day of your death. Even though strange things happened in your world line, I did my best to confirm your safety. If only you would have survived, but, because of you not only you but your friends died as well." 

It looked like she was angry at me because I died, well sorry lady it was not in my power to do something against death. 

"You are angry at me because I died? Did you saw all those missiles! They just appeared in the sky, there wasn't even a sound of them coming and they were also suspended in the air, sky suddenly turned black, don't tell me you didn't see that." 

"Calm down, you mortal! You are in the presence of a divine being. Do not run your mouth according to your will." She said that with scrunched eyes. 

"Well, thanks for nothing lady. I just witnessed death and was summoned here for no reason and you are telling me to show you respect or do whatever you are saying." I said that in an angry tone. 

"Oh, it looks like you don't know anything about me. I just remember people of your time had not discovered this place yet." She continued on. "You died without meeting your fate. Your story was not completed." 

I interrupted her, "What do you mean by that?" 

"If you will be patient, then, because you died without meeting your fate there are somethings that were supposed to happen because of you but now they will not happen because of your death." She said that while rubbing her hands together. 

I wanted to ask her a few questions but then she spoke again. 

"The world is not happy with so many living beings dying without meeting their fate. As it stands the world is rather angry then unhappy. That is why she had asked me to do something for all those poor souls."  

"The world is not happy with so many people dying, without meeting their fate?" I asked her making a smug face. She didn't say anything so I continued, 

"Isn't the world being too generous? I mean a lot of people die almost every second becoming victims of crimes!" I said that while trying to laugh to suppress my fear. 

"That is different and this is different. They meet their fates. There was no meddling with time. The existence of world was not at danger!" I think she just said something truly terrifying, besides what is the deal with meddling with time? The whole missile incident is strange, if meddling with time is involved, I don't think it is strange well, if you think that disturbing the time of world is not abnormal. 

"If I dare to ask than what is the deal with time interference? I know that messing with time always ends up in disaster but is it really that dangerous. I mean you said that the world is angry. Is world a fairy god or do you just refer to it as her?" I bombarded her with a lot of questions. 

"For someone who just saw the face of death you sure talk a lot! Well, world is angry because you are the only one in the history of billions of years who died without meeting the fate world had decided for them. That is the reason world had asked me to meddle in the affairs of you lowly beings." She said that before letting out a big sigh and locking her hands together. 

"I am the only one?" I asked her with interest, because it made me look like someone of high importance. 

"You are not the only one. There are others like you!" She hurriedly said that to shut my excited mouth. 

"So now comes the important question! I will ask you again, what's about to happen to me?" I asked her while making a serious expression or trying to make a serious expression. 

"You are going to the future of this world. Time of this world is frozen by using power of a divine being like me. You will be sent into the future to stop the great evil that caused this absurdity." 

She is expecting great things from me, I will say that. 

"Are you not expecting great things from me? I am just a kid, you know!" 

"Well, you were caught in all of this because of your stupidity. If you want you can just die here along with all of your family and loved ones. You will be erased from the records of this world. World will stop allowing the existence of your soul."  

She said all of that with straight face showing no emotion for my poor existence, that was caught in all of this. 

"Isn't world too cruel?" I asked her while blinking my eyes. 

"Isn't this what you were expecting from the world?" She said that with a serious face. 

"So, what am I supposed to do now?" As I was left with no choice, I asked her this, so I could solve this problem really fast to go back to my world. 

"I just told you that you would be travelling into the future where the 'cause of all misfortune' lies. Your body will remain the same but you will live the life of a being who was already living there." 

"But that would take really long time and I want to come back to my world as soon as possible. Besides if I live like another person, it will be a lot of trouble for me, I don't think I can live like another person." 

"It is up to you if you want to do it or not." After she said that I saw her getting scared or was she flustered, I couldn't tell. 

She let out a huge sigh and looked at me while narrowing her eyes towards me. She pointed the index finger of her right hand at me and opened her mouth. 

Her huge fingers startled me a little. 

"Now, it has been decided that you don't have a choice! You have to do what we demand from you." Her eyes were blinking and opening wide at fast rate, and she continued on, "you will be given the necessary assist for your success but, it will depend on your abilities."  

"I will say it again; you are expecting great things from me." 

"Remember, I am controller of paths so, paths of past, present, and future are controlled by me. I am the one who is transferring you to the future by using my powers." She said that with red cheeks. 

Is she boasting about her power? She wants me to praise her or compliment her, I don't know? Should I compliment her,uh..no..I don't think so. She isn't doing a damn thing in my favor. 

"Now you will be sent to the world of future where you will have to defeat the great evil to come back to your world." She said it while looking at the sky, copying her, I also looked at the sky. 

"So, are you ready?" She asked me. 

Ready my ass. She didn't explain a damn single thing to me I asked her. 

"I don't know."  I said that in a crying voice. 

"Well, then here you go." She ignored my answer. 

As soon as she said that the dark sky above me started to shine bright like a sun and soon, I was unable to open my eyes due to intense brightness. 

When I closed my eyes I heard some voices, "Hey Chloeir, were you not too harsh on him just now? Your other selves are doing this better than you!" 

"That is not your problem! I am stressed a lot due to using my power in excess." 

And soon I was unable to hear anything, and see anything and in the next few seconds I lost my consciousness. It felt like my body was travelling so fast that I couldn't even imagine it. I don't know after how long, but I started to gain consciousness as I was able to hear some voices coming from all the directions. I slowly started to open my eyes as light made it difficult for me to do so. 

I opened my eyes and found myself in a large hall. A hall that was filled with hospital beds with patients lying on them. Heck, I don't think they should be called patients, they were victims of some heinous crimes. All of them had wounds on all of their bodies. It was not a good sight. I was busy looking around when I heard some footsteps coming towards me. Those footsteps stopped when the person reached me. It was a lady doctor who had both of her hands in the pockets of her lab coat, she seemed really tired as all the work was causing her great distress. 

"Hello, uh...you are, Seth Locke! That's right, Seth Locke. You are the first patient here who has opened his eyes." She said that with a smile of relief. 

Suddenly, two of the patients that were lying on my left side started to let out some murmurs. One of the patients opened his eyes while the other one woke up gasping for her breath, she sat up soon after catching her breath. The girl patient looked at me and started to think for some moments. 

While she was thinking I was also doing the same thing because even though their face was half covered with bandages there was some features I recognized very well. 

The dark black hair of girl along with light purple shade and the blue eyes of the patient lying on bed. Before I could say anything, the boy lying on bed shouted first. 

"Auri!!!" 

 He screamed this while looking at me.
