Chapter 31

"Inhale!"

"Break!"

Kei's hand was wrapped in a stream of air as he punched forward, directly shattering the giant boulder in the distance. After smashing the boulder, the Air Cannon's residual force continued to hit the mountain peak, blasting out a huge hole.

The Sky Dragon Slayer Magic could treat air as food, converting it into energy while also manipulating air for combat.

"Controlling air is secondary. The strongest aspect is the ability to convert air into food! It's insanely powerful!"

Kei used to always hear people joke about drinking the northwest wind when they were hungry. But now, he could actually drink the northwest wind to replenish energy!

"Kei-nii, you're amazing!"

Wendy stood next to Kei with admiration sparkling in her eyes. They were both learning Sky Dragon Slayer Magic from Grandeeney.

But while her magic could only blow some wind at people, Kei's magic could directly smash a mountain.

The gap between them was huge. However, she didn't feel jealous; instead, she thought Kei was really amazing!

"It's alright. I'm really not that good with air magic. It still feels more natural to me to just wield a sword and cut things down."

"That kind of combat where every punch hits flesh, and every slash draws blood is more my style."

Now Kei could treat air as food to replenish energy. His Ripple, which also relied on breathing, had grown stronger as well.

Before, under various enhancements, he could create a forty-meter-long Ripple Holy Sword. Now, he could make a forty-five-meter-long Ripple Holy Sword with his own power alone!

This was a significant improvement!

"Alright, let's continue training. Wendy, use your magic to press the air against me. I'll use this to do physical training!"

During his previous training, Kei discovered a neat trick. That was having Wendy compress air around his body.

Using this method to increase his weight resistance was much more effective than just carrying rocks.

"Okay."

Wendy nodded and exerted all her strength to press the air against Kei's body. However, Kei continued moving like normal, even feeling like the pressure wasn't enough.

"Although this child is very healthy and strong, I feel like he's a bit too strong!"

Grandeeney looked at the giant hole Kei had made in the distance. Could a human child really achieve this at the age of five?

Eh, but then again, she hadn't really seen other human children. Maybe this was normal? Yeah, totally normal.

Grandeeney quickly convinced herself that her child was completely fine. They were healthy, after all.

When it was time for lunch.

Grandeeney had caught a massive prey and roasted it with fire before handing it over to Kei. Wendy couldn't eat that much; she only needed some fruit to be satisfied.

"Although the prey is large, both the flavor and energy content are far inferior to the Gourmet World."

Kei quickly devoured his meal, even chewing up and swallowing the bones. Bones were part of the food too, after all.

Watching Kei devour his food, Grandeeney couldn't help but feel puzzled.

"Eh? Do human children eat this much? Why does it feel like he eats more than I did when I was a child? No! It seems like he even eats more than I do now!"

Grandeeney glanced at Wendy, who was full after eating just a few fruits. Suddenly, she felt like she had discovered the truth.

"Child, are you sure it's okay to eat that much? Won't it upset your stomach?"

Grandeeney asked with slight concern. It was her first time taking care of children, especially human children, so she was very worried about making a mistake.

"No problem at all! The food was cooked perfectly and tastes amazing."

Kei assumed Grandeeney was worried about whether the food was properly cooked, so he explained.

"Oh, that's good, that's good."

Seeing Kei devour his food with such enjoyment, Grandeeney felt her heart melt. She was genuinely happy. After all, her child couldn't possibly have any problems.

"Children eating more is perfectly normal. And Kei seems to be a boy, so of course, he eats more than Wendy, who's a girl. That's perfectly normal!"

Grandeeney convinced herself again, her face brimming with happiness as she watched the two of them continue their training after finishing their meal.

Raising children like this truly felt wonderful.

...

One day.

Grandeeney brought Kei and Wendy to the forest, intending to teach them hunting techniques, hoping they would be able to survive on their own after she left.

"Alright, Kei, you go try hunting the prey below."

"Leave it to me!"

The moment Kei heard Grandeeney's words, he immediately jumped down from her back. Mind you, they were still in midair. Grandeeney became worried right away.

"Be careful not to fall!"

"Don't worry!"

Kei stepped on the wind and successfully landed on the ground.

"Amazing! As expected of my child, born to be the ruler of the sky!"

Seeing Kei land safely, Grandeeney let out a sigh of relief. But then she couldn't help feeling proud again. Her child was truly incredible!

After landing, Kei searched the surroundings and soon found a hungry wolf.

"Hehehe! The me from the past was completely powerless. But now, all you can do is obediently become my prey!"

Kei walked straight toward the wolf.

Grandeeney, watching from the sky, shook her head. "This child is still too young. Hunting requires patience."

"Marching over so brazenly will either make the prey flee or force it to fight back. Out here, getting hurt means weakness."

"Weakness means death."

"No matter how strong he appears, he's still a child at heart. He needs more guidance from me. I'll have to put even more effort into teaching him when we get back, so he can become an outstanding person."

Kei continued to walk toward the wolf. The wolf noticed him and made a threatening posture, lowering its body while letting out a low growl.

"Roar!"

Kei suddenly glared at it, releasing a mighty Dragon Roar. The air trembled, and dust was blown away from the ground.

The wolf was so frightened by the sheer force of Kei's Dragon Aura that it fainted on the spot.

"Dragon's Aura!"

"Using Dragon's Aura to directly knock out prey—Isn't that a hunting method exclusive to dragons? How could he use it?!"

"Oh, but he is my child, after all. Spending so much time with me, of course he'd pick up something like Dragon's Aura. That's perfectly normal. Yes, perfectly normal."

Grandeeney once again convinced herself. The more she looked at Kei, the more exceptional she found him. He was truly an amazing child.

During this time, Wendy tried hunting many times but always failed. The child simply wasn't suited for combat.

"Uuuu, I-I really can't do it. Mama and Kei-nii are both so amazing, but I'm just so clumsy."

"Am I not their real child? Uuuu..."

Wendy sat on Grandeeney's back, sobbing loudly.

Hearing her words, Kei couldn't help but widen his eyes. Was that even a question? How could a human be a dragon's biological child?!

"Silly child, of course you're my dearest child. It's okay if you can't hunt. Everyone has things they're good at."

"You might be better at something else."

Grandeeney comforted her gently.

"Ah!"

Kei, listening from the side, opened his mouth in disbelief. A dragon was actually saying a human was her own child! Is this world crazy, or am I crazy?!

Could it be that I was born a dragon in this world too?! No, that's impossible! I remember I was adopted!
