Chapter 37

"I'm back!"

Natsu pushed open the doors of the Fairy Tail guild, shouting energetically.

"It's Natsu."

"Where have you been, brat?"

"We thought the Master lost you somewhere."

"That's right, I went out to train! Now, I'm super strong!"

Natsu quickly blended back into the guild's atmosphere. Before long, Makarov heard about Natsu's return and came over.

"Natsu, why did you come back so soon? Did something happen?"

Makarov asked.

"Nothing much. It's just that Kei-nii and the others left the forest, saying they wanted to go somewhere else to continue their training."

"I didn't feel like staying alone, so I came back."

Natsu briefly explained what happened and then said, "Old man, let me take on some quests! I want to challenge powerful guys!"

"Only by constantly challenging strong opponents can I become even stronger. Why did you hit me?!"

Before Natsu could finish his speech, Makarov smacked him on the head with his cane.

"You reckless brat! Dangerous quests aren't something you can just mess around with. If you're not careful, you could lose your life!"

"It'll be another ten years before you're ready to take on dangerous quests! Just stick to the simple ones for now!"

Makarov wasn't about to let the children in his guild take on such dangerous tasks, especially not Natsu, who was impulsive and reckless.

If he didn't keep a close eye on him, something terrible might happen.

"By the way, did you explain how to live in the city to Kei and Wendy? They've always lived in the forest. Suddenly coming to the city, they might not be able to adapt."

After scolding Natsu, Makarov suddenly realized something and brought it up.

"Um... Oh!"

Natsu tilted his head with a confused expression, then suddenly clapped his hands as if he just remembered something. "Hahaha, I completely forgot!"

"You idiot!"

Makarov hit him again.

"No problem! Kei-nii is super strong!"

Natsu laughed loudly, not thinking anything would go wrong. After all, he managed to survive on his own all this time.

If Kei, who was much stronger than him, couldn't do the same, then something must be seriously wrong.

...

Phantom Lord Guild Branch.

"Hm? Iron Dragon? Never heard of it."

"Also, kid, this is a guild for mages, not a place for children."

"Scram, scram, stop getting in the way."

"Not here, huh? It's still too early. That guy probably hasn't joined the Phantom Lord yet. Ah, why wasn't I born in the previous era?"

Kei didn't pay attention to the words of the guild members. After confirming that the person he was looking for wasn't there, he left with Wendy.

As he walked away, he couldn't help but think how amazing it would be to have been born in the era of dragons.

At that time, dragons were everywhere. Absorbing the power of many dragons would surely make him incredibly powerful! It wouldn't be as troublesome as searching for dragons one by one like now.

Drip, drip, drip...

The sky suddenly started to rain.

"It's raining."

Wendy felt droplets fall on her head. She looked up at the sky that had been clear just moments ago and saw that it had suddenly started raining.

"Nii-chan, we didn't bring anything to shelter from the rain! My new clothes will get wet!"

Wendy said in a worried tone.

"Just use the air to form a protective barrier around yourself, and the rain won't touch you."

Kei replied.

"Huh?"

Wendy tilted her head adorably, her expression puzzled. Her brother often said things that were hard to understand.

"Forget it."

Kei shook his head, realizing that something that seemed so normal to him sounded like a complicated technique to others.

When he was learning the Ripple technique, things like concentrating energy on the body's surface were basic training.

"Roar!"

Accompanied by a powerful dragon roar, Kei unleashed a Sky Dragon's Roar towards the sky.

The massive gust of wind tore through the clouds, scattering them completely.

The previously overcast sky was now bright and clear again.

"Nii-chan, you're amazing!"

Wendy looked at Kei in awe. With just one attack, he managed to make the sky clear up again. She had always admired Kei.

"This child is becoming more and more powerful!"

Grandeeney's voice was full of admiration. Kei's strength was now comparable to a fully-grown dragon.

And to think he wasn't even ten years old yet!

Meanwhile, a certain group of people was clueless about what just happened.

"Huh? It cleared up?"

"Wasn't something just shooting up into the sky?"

"Was it? I didn't see anything."

"You must be seeing things."

Most of the members of the Phantom Lord guild didn't notice Kei's attack. They just thought the weather was acting weird.

However, there was one girl who did notice.

"That was amazing! He actually scattered the dark clouds in the sky!"

"And so... this is what a clear sky looks like. It's so beautiful."

Juvia put away her umbrella. She had been called the 'Rain Woman' since childhood.

Wherever she went, rain followed, giving her extraordinary talent in Water Magic but also bringing her endless trouble.

Seeing the clear sky made her feel like the gloomy clouds inside her heart were also breaking apart.

She quickly chased after Kei and Wendy.

"Hello! My name is Juvia. What's your name?"

"Kei. So, do you need something from me?"

Kei looked at the girl who suddenly approached him. Juvia was probably around twelve years old, still a little girl.

"I heard you're looking for the Iron Dragon. While I don't know him, I do know someone who might."

"His name is Gajeel. I heard he's been searching for a dragon named Metalicana."

Juvia seemed delighted to have learned Kei's name and eagerly shared what she knew.

"If you want to find him, I can show you the way."

Juvia didn't have any ulterior motives. She simply wanted to be friends with Kei.

"Well, well. It's like finding a hidden path when there seemed to be no way."

"Alright then, Juvia, could you lead us to Gajeel?"

Kei finally recognized the girl before him. It was Juvia, the future Fairy Tail member, and the Water Mage known as the Rain Woman.

The sudden rain just now was probably caused by her powers.

"Sure!"

Juvia happily began leading the way. She was so focused on talking to Kei that she completely ignored Wendy beside him.

"My name is Wendy."

Wendy stood between Juvia and Kei and grabbed his hand, as if making a declaration.

"Hello, Wendy-chan."

Juvia didn't notice Wendy's subtle message. She just thought the little girl was adorable and held Wendy's hand naturally.

"Let's go! Oh, by the way, I'll show you some fun places around here. There's a shop up ahead that sells the most delicious crepes!"

Juvia said cheerfully.

"C-Crepes? Are they really that delicious?"

Wendy's displeasure quickly faded away, her attention completely captured by the mention of delicious food.
