Transported - Chapter 2

Suddenly the space and matter around him started to contort and spin. The skinny old man looked around, confused.

"Huh!? W-WHATS GOING ON! THIS IS MADNESS! STOP IT!"

He grabbed his head and curled up into a ball. Anxiety and fills his body. Then suddenly, nothing he sits still for a while. He slowly lifts up his head.

"W-Where am i..." He looks around the bunker that used to be everything he knew was now gone. Instead he was in a small bedroom on a bed.

He looks down at his hands. They are no longer brittle and fragile. They're Instead soft and have life in them. The scar that used to trigger something in his mind whenever he looked at it was now gone.

"This is... My old apartment." As he stares at his hands, the shock still fresh a green tinted window appears infront of his face.

Suddenly a sharp pain went through his head. He clutched his head in pain as it throbbed. Then it was over. Nothing.

Now all the voices were gone. The constant fear of something going wrong was now gone.

He jumped up and ran to the bathroom, even the feeling of this felt extraordinary. He opened the door and as he looked in the mirror, he was shocked. The hollowed out cheeks were gone. Now he looked young and fresh. While he was still processing everything he hears his phone ring.

"My phone..." he walked back to his bed and picked up the phone on the desk next to his bed. He read text on his phone and then sighed.

Soon he was out of the house. He put on some spare clothes that were laying around. He realized that he had no time to waste. After a bus ride he was at a tall building.

"DUDE! You're gonna get fired if you're late again." A man with ruffled work clothed looked at him.

"Jobs aren't gonna matter in a few hours, Ethan. Follow me." He looked at him with a cold stare.

Ethan stared back at him. Realizing that he was being serious. But little did Ethan know, Adam was sweating bullets.

"Why wasn't i more adventurous back then!" He thought to himself. "I hardly know anything other than the weakness of a few monsters..."

They go to a coffee shop and sit down to talk.

"Dude, so... we're both gonna be fired..." he looks at him with a worried look.

"Ethan, you should get all your affairs in order. In a few hours something crazy is gonna happen-"

As he was still speaking there was an earthquake. Adam looked outside and there was a rift in the ground.

"Ah, I see... my timing was way off." He looks at the at the hole in the ground and suddenly a huge beast crawls out.

"What the heck is that..." Ethan looked at the beast in horror.

The creature was over 9ft, it was green and had horns. Adam got up and ran to the back of the shop.

"Ethan, grab something. You still practice kendo?" Adam throws him a bread knife. "We gotta go."

They exit through the back door. Adam starts thinking, from the little information he knows, the weakest monsters should be at the subway station. They descended into the subway station.

"What's going on!" Ethan asked still very confused and I'm shock. His knuckles turned white as he gripped the bread knife.

"Alright, right now the Apocalypse is starting and we have to start getting soul essence if-" as they run through the hall they come across hundreds of goblins. They stare at them, and the duo stares back

All of a sudden they're running in the opposite direction as a horde of goblins chase them.

"THIS PLACE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FULL OF SWARMERS! DARN IT!" They turn multiple corners trying to evade the horde "C'mon! I need to kill something to activate the soul system!" He looks around for a weak monster to kill but nothing

Ethan pants, slowing down slightly. In a moment of desperation he turns around and throws his bread knife at the horde. It hits a goblin in the head piercing it.

"THINK ADAM, THINK! I DIDNT COME BACK JUST TO DIE AGAIN-" He looks at Ethan but Ethan seems to be staring at the air. "Ethan... did you unlock the-"

Ethan mutters a few words. "Lightning Retrieval?" Just then a booming sound rings out. The goblins stops for a second and look back. Then, a Lightning bolt hits Ethans hand. He doesn't seem to be injured but bread knife he had just thrown into the crowd was in his hand.

"Holy crap... Ethan, you unlocked the soul system!" He looks at him with disbelief. "Wait throw it again!"

Ethan, barely processing what has happened throws the bread knife at the horde again then uses his skill. "Lightning Retrieval!" Thunder strikes where the bread knife was killing a few goblins that were near it, then it appears back in his hand.

"HOLY CRAP, THAT SKILL IS SO OP!" Adam says with excitement, and a little hidden jealousy.

Using the skill, they easily cut through the horde. They cause enough damage to disperse them and turn them back.

"Huff, huff... Man, I'm low on energy. Let's just get out of here." He says his stamina low

"Your charge low? Alright let's get going then... wait, pass me the bread knife." Ethan tosses Adam the bread knife. He walks toward a goblin with an injured leg. "Sorry man..." he kils the goblin.

"Finally." He says, relieved. He opens the skill tab. "Maybe ill have a better skill..." he stares at the skill that says

"24 hour cooldown!? The skill is useless!" He shouts out in distress.
