Chapter 1: A Transmigrator Who Keeps a Diary, the Half Awakened Raccoon Maid~
Douluo Continent, Phanos Province, Notting City.
The morning sunlight slipped quietly through the gaps in the curtains, casting faint light into the still dim room. The figure on the bed turned over, completely unaware, his steady breathing indicating that he was still deep in dreamland.
"Young Master? Are you awake? It's time to get up, or it will affect your plans for the day."
A gentle female voice came from outside the door. The figure on the bed stirred slightly, rubbing his eyes under the covers, his voice still carrying a hint of drowsiness. "Come in, Sister Xiu'er."
The door handle turned, and a girl of about ten years old stepped into the room. She pulled open the curtains, walked to the bedside, lifted the quilt, and helped the just awakened boy get dressed.
By the time he was fully dressed, the boy had finally shaken off his grogginess. Meanwhile, the girl had already brought over a basin of clean water, soaked a towel, and began wiping his face.
"Sister Xiu'er, what time is it now?"
Accepting her service, the boy waited until the warm towel left his face before opening his eyes to ask.
"Young Master, it's 8:30. If we leave after breakfast, we should arrive just in time."
The girl, called Xiu'er, wrung out the towel, set it aside, and replied softly.
"Alright, you can go out first. I'll brush my teeth and head over in five minutes."
The boy gave his instructions as he stood up. Just as the girl was about to leave with the basin of water, he seemed to remember something and turned back.
"Sister Xiu'er, remember to change your hair accessory or wear a hat. I don't like the way people look at you."
Hearing his words, the girl's movements paused briefly. She turned back with a smile and said, "Understood, Little Li."
Once the girl had closed the door behind her, the boy slowly walked to the desk, pulled open a drawer, and took out a notebook.
Flipping through the pages, he muttered to himself while making his way to the washbasin.
"Whenever it rains, I get a numb and itchy sensation on both sides of my ribs, and it gradually intensifies, lasting for more than an hour. It happens twice a day, at noon and midnight. Every night, around the third watch, I feel a sharp, needle like pain on my head and the soles of my feet. My whole body spasms for at least half an hour."
After placing the notebook aside, he began brushing his teeth while silently memorizing his secret notes.
Once he rinsed his mouth and dried his hands, he picked up the notebook again, checking the mixture of block characters and pinyin on its pages. After confirming that what he had memorized matched what was written, he put the notebook back in the drawer and walked out with satisfaction.
(Note: The written language of the Douluo world differs from Chinese. The diary will be destroyed after awakening.)
That's right he was a transmigrator. No, to be precise, he was a reincarnator. He had died and been reborn into the Douluo Continent, but it wasn't until he turned three that he awakened the memories of his previous life.
Unlike others who got hit by a truck, his previous life's death was far less dramatic. He simply felt a sudden sharp pain in his heart while sleeping, and by the time he pieced his memory together again, he had become a three year old child.
What he had just written in his notebook, what he had been memorizing it all belonged to his past life memories. It was the so called "Immortal Herb Code."
The only reason he could remember it so clearly was thanks to a certain experience before he transmigrated. On the night before his death, his best brother a lousy web novelist had dragged him out for drinks. Between venting frustrations, they started discussing his friend's next book.
That next book happened to be a Douluo fanfic, and while they talked about the investment return rate of fantasy worlds, his friend jokingly brought up Poison Douluo, Dugu Bo.
Casually, his friend recited the information he had prepared in the form of a rhyme, even patting his shoulder and saying, "Remember this well this is a great opportunity. If you ever transmigrate to Douluo, this is the key to godhood!"
At the time, he hadn't taken it seriously. But now… looking back, that guy really hit the nail on the head.
Thinking about it, Han Li couldn't help but twitch the corners of his mouth. He started to suspect that his friend had done it on purpose. Maybe he was actually some big shot who deliberately set him up for this.
Otherwise, this was just too much of a coincidence.
Still, it wasn't all bad. He had been alone in his past life, and coming to a supernatural world was certainly better than working himself to death. At least he hadn't bought a house minimal losses. Though, he did feel a bit bad for his landlord, who might lose some rent money because of him.
At breakfast, he pulled Sister Xiu'er the girl from earlier down to sit with him. As they ate, his mind drifted elsewhere.
Interestingly enough, his name remained the same in both lives: Han Li.
The only difference was that, in his past life, the orphanage director had named him, whereas in this life, his name came from his parents' surnames.
His father was named Han Li. His mother was Li Feiyu.
When he first learned their names, he had been stunned for a long time, struggling to suppress the urge to complain. He did his best to act normal.
In his past life, people had joked about his name plenty, but in this life, it was even more absurd his name literally combined his parents' names. It almost felt like some greater force was watching over him.
Then again, considering this was the Douluo Continent… oh well, nothing to worry about. This world couldn't even handle concepts like karma.
Besides, he didn't have to dwell on his parents' situation. After awakening his past memories, he had discovered that his parents had passed away not long ago.
That event was what triggered his early memory awakening. Overcome with grief, his young body suffered a high fever for half a month before finally recovering.
His parents had been deacons of Spirit Hall. Unlike Su Yuntao, they were under the jurisdiction of the entire Phanos Province. Both were Spirit Ancestors one at rank 42, the other at rank 43 part of the mobile enforcer division responsible for eliminating fallen spirit masters.
While on patrol, their squad encountered two fallen spirit masters slaughtering villagers in a sacrificial ritual. There was no time to report it, and despite the presence of a Spirit King among the enemies, they chose to intervene.
The result? Near mutual destruction.
His mother, the strongest among them, used the last of her strength to bring the only surviving girl to the nearest Spirit Hall. Before dying, she left her final wish to have her young son sent home safely.
Thinking of this, Han Li turned to look at the girl beside him, who was eating her meal.
Sister Xiu'er was the one his mother had saved.
She was supposed to awaken her spirit that year, but because of what happened, she had an accidental awakening. As a result, she became similar to the cat girl that Ning Fengzhi had purchased in the original story except her spirit was a small raccoon.
With Spirit Hall's silent approval, a half crippled girl stubbornly chose to become his maid.
Noticing Han Li's gaze, Xiu'er was momentarily stunned before breaking into a sweet smile.
"Young Master, are you done eating? Shall we head out now?"
"Mm, let's go. As planned, we're going to check out Notting Academy's new student enrollment today."
Han Li glanced at Xiu'er, who had hidden her ears again, then took the lead and walked outside.
"Young Master, there's no rush. Your spirit awakening is only a week away. Even if you miss the admission period, the academy won't refuse you."
The girl's voice came softly from behind.
"I know, Sister Xiu'er. I just want to see this year's new students. Maybe I'll meet some future classmates… or witness something interesting."
A strange smile appeared on Han Li's face like a weasel that had successfully stolen a chicken.
