Chapter 6: Bibi Dong vs. Qian Daoliu, Guang Ling Arrives

Spirit City, within the Worship Hall.

A place that rarely concerned itself with external affairs was, for once, abuzz with discussion.

"Tsk, Old Five, did you see the last note? It says you held that kid before and even claimed he was 'fated' with you." Third Worshipper, Qingluan Douluo, teased Guang Ling with a chuckle.

"Hahaha! Old Five probably couldn't tell which face was his own while holding a child!"

Qian Jun added, grinning. The worshippers had been secluded in cultivation for a long time, with little entertainment. It was rare for something this amusing to come up.

"Qian Jun, are you asking for a beating? I already told you I don't remember anything like that!" Guang Ling ground his teeth, glaring at Qian Jun as if he was ready to throw hands at any moment.

"We brothers always fight together. Jiang Mo, let's teach Old Five a lesson. Maybe it's time for a ranking shuffle in the Worship Hall."

Qian Jun smirked provocatively and called on his brother to join in.

"Enough, Qian Jun. Settle down. If you want a fight, I'll be your opponent."

Golden Crocodile Douluo, sitting at the head, gave Qian Jun a glance before turning to Guang Ling.

"Old Five, you've read the report. Interested in taking a disciple? His martial soul is quite intriguing. Besides, you've been stagnating in your cultivation for a while now. Maybe guiding a student will help you break through."

"Hmm… Let me think about it."

Hearing Golden Crocodile's words, Guang Ling calmed down, considering the idea. He had never thought about taking a disciple before.

Just then, Qian Daoliu, who had remained indifferent to their antics, finally opened his eyes. His gaze shifted toward the hall's entrance, drawing the attention of the other worshippers.

Click, click, click.

The rhythmic sound of high heels echoed from the doorway, deliberately announcing the arrival of their owner.

The worshippers' eyes darkened slightly this was obviously intentional.

After all, who else could walk so loudly if not on purpose?

As a silver high heeled shoe crossed the threshold, a cold voice followed.

"Qian Daoliu, Great Worshipper, I assume the Worship Hall has an explanation for me?"

Bibi Dong entered, her expression like a frost covered blade, her piercing gaze locked onto the figure in the center of the hall.

"An explanation? And what explanation do you seek?"

Qian Daoliu remained seated, looking at Bibi Dong with an unshaken calm.

"Don't play dumb. Martial soul awakenings and recruitments are the responsibility of the Pope's Palace. Why, then, did the Worship Hall receive this information simultaneously? And you Guang Ling Worshipper since when do you have the authority to interfere with Spirit Hall's branch halls?"

Bibi Dong turned to Guang Ling with a cold glare, her voice laced with accusation.

"Bibi Dong, don't twist the situation. Since when does the Worship Hall need your approval to receive reports from Spirit Hall's branches? We haven't interfered this is standard procedure.

And don't forget Spirit Hall belongs to the Qian family.

Just because you're the Pope doesn't make you the true master of Spirit Hall. You're still unworthy."

Guang Ling was a staunch loyalist of the Angelic Bloodline. Upon hearing Bibi Dong's words, he immediately stood up and summoned his martial soul, his stance ready for battle.

(Note: Only Qian Daoliu knows the full extent of Bibi Dong's true strength.)

Bibi Dong's grip on her scepter tightened, but she didn't respond to Guang Ling. Instead, she fixed her gaze on Qian Daoliu.

"This is what you promised me? That once I became Pope, the Worship Hall wouldn't interfere with my authority?

Judging by the Fifth Worshipper's words, I suppose I should just step down entirely, then?"

"You !"

Guang Ling was about to speak again, but Qian Daoliu raised a hand, silencing him.

He studied Bibi Dong for a moment before responding slowly.

"I understand your concern.

This was a mishap Spirit Hall's branch officials were unsure how to proceed, so they escalated the matter. As for Guang Ling handling the situation, it benefits you as well he is maintaining order among the lower ranks.

What I promised remains unchanged. The Worship Hall will not interfere with your authority. Just focus on doing your job as Pope. I will ensure this does not happen again."

"I hope you remember what you just said."

Bibi Dong's lips curled into a fleeting smirk. Having achieved her goal, she turned and walked away.

With that verbal assurance, she now had even more freedom to make her moves.

Just as she was about to leave the Worship Hall, Qian Daoliu spoke again.

"This child, since he has ties to Guang Ling, will belong to the Worship Hall.

And Bibi Dong… tread carefully."

Bibi Dong paused for a second but said nothing.

The sound of her heels clicking against the floor grew even sharper as she exited.

(Internal monologue: Bibi Dong I AM the Pope. Heh.)

"Big Brother, Bibi Dong is getting out of hand."

Guang Ling sat back down in frustration, while a glint of coldness flashed in Golden Crocodile Douluo's eyes. He turned to Qian Daoliu.

The hall fell silent before Qian Daoliu spoke again.

"In the end… she is Xue'er's mother."

Another brief silence.

Then, Qian Daoliu turned to Guang Ling, who was still seething.

"Guang Ling, Golden Crocodile has a point.

This child take him in as your disciple. Given what just happened, even if he joins Spirit Hall, Bibi Dong won't nurture him.

And don't take your frustration out on him. You know the reality of lower ranked spirit masters. His talent is good, and Xue'er will need allies in the future.

He is a solid candidate."

After finishing, Qian Daoliu closed his eyes once more, while the other worshippers exchanged glances.

After a long pause, Guang Ling finally calmed down.

After thinking over Qian Daoliu's words, he grumbled, "I'm going out for a walk," and left the hall.

"You think he'll go in person?"

Xiongshi Douluo glanced at Golden Crocodile, hesitating.

"Even if he does, it's fine. He's never been one to sit still consider it a trip to clear his mind."

Golden Crocodile replied, uncertain himself.

Meanwhile, in Heaven Dou City, Salas was still in the intelligence room, waiting for Spirit City's response.

Three days passed in a blur.

Notting City's Spirit Hall received no response, leaving Matthew Nuo doubting himself.

Had his report not gone through?

That shouldn't be possible.

Or perhaps… Han Li's martial soul wasn't valued as highly as he thought?

But that didn't make sense full innate soul power should never be overlooked. This wasn't another useless Blue Silver Grass!

Han Li, too, grew restless as he waited at home.

This situation was far different from what he had expected.

Even if his gamble had failed, there should have been some reaction.

Since when did full innate soul power become so worthless?

To calm himself, he forced himself into a meditative state, finalizing a new plan.

Four more days.

If nothing happened within a week, regardless of the reason, he would personally head to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect.

That was the best remaining option after weighing all the pros and cons.

Suddenly, a chill ran down his spine, pulling him out of meditation.

His eyes snapped open only to see an unfamiliar face mere inches away from his own.

Instinctively, he pushed off the ground, rolling backward into a half kneeling stance.

Twin sabers materialized in his hands as he locked eyes on the intruder.

"Not bad.

Your awareness could use work, though."

A playful voice filled the room.

Only now did Han Li get a good look at the man.
