Chapter 5

At the moment he saw the mourning hall, Jiang Ming finally began to believe his father had passed away.

I also saw He Yan holding a gift box; inside the transparent square box was a golden peach symbolizing longevity.

How ironic that the peach, a symbol of longevity and prosperity, appeared at his father's mourning hall.

However, there was no sadness or shame in Jiang Ming's eyes, but rather a surge of anger. He ran toward me and grabbed my collar.

"Was it you? Did you kill Dad, did you not take care of him?"

I forcefully pushed his hand away.

"Don't lose your mind here! Let Dad rest in peace!"

I didn't want to argue with him; friends and family were all here, all watching the drama unfold, and it would disgrace his parents' memory along with him.

"How dare you talk back! You still have the face to call him Dad! You venomous woman! Dad was fine just days ago. Was it you who harmed him!"
