Before coming to Thailand, I read a lot online about the chaotic environment of Northern Myanmar.

Online fraud, romance scams, captivity, organ trafficking... lawlessness and utter darkness.

I was sure I wouldn't go to Northern Myanmar, but I never expected that I would have a similar experience in Thailand!

I was taken out of the city by a van, bumped around for two hours, and arrived at a place resembling a small town.

The town was not a tourist area, looking very desolate, with no pedestrians in sight, only one fenced-off factory area after another.

Around the factory areas were watchtowers with armed guards patrolling.

I was taken into one of these factory areas.

This was the stronghold of that underground gambling group.

In recent years, Northern Myanmar's reputation has become so bad that fewer people are deceived, so many gangs have moved their bases to neighboring countries like Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Cambodia.
