Chapter 10

The next day, Delia hesitated before telling me, "Seraphina, my brother just sent me a message. He said Zoran's sentencing will be announced tomorrow."

"He's admitted to his crimes, but before the sentencing, he wants to see you one last time."

"If you don't want to see him, we won't go. Don't worry, with the evidence my brother uncovered and me personally handling your case, Zoran is sure to get the death penalty."

"See him? Why wouldn't I?"

I took a deep breath and replied calmly.

Accompanied by Delia, I met with Zoran.

He looked like a shell of his former self, devoid of energy. Though he was clean and tidy, he gave off an air of utter defeat.

Normally, Zoran was always meticulous about his appearance.

I never imagined I'd see him like this.

When he saw me, his eyes held a hint of regret, but also a sense of relief.

We stared at each other for a long while before he let out a hoarse chuckle and said, "Darling, you know what? I truly regret it now. I regret hurting you."
