My best friend and I grew up together, inseparable.
We attended the same school and married into the same family.
She married Gu Zhizhou, the older brother who is a doctor, while I married Gu Zhiyan, the younger brother who inherited the family business.
I thought my days would be sweet and happy with the backing of the Gu Group and being not only best friends but also sisters-in-law.
Until we caught Gu Zhizhou embracing a female colleague in his department, and then shortly after saw Gu Zhiyan sweetly shopping with his secretary.
We discussed it:
"Divorce! We must divorce!"

In the middle of the night, the sound of quarreling came from my best friend's room again.


I sighed, watching time slip away bit by bit, yet my heart felt empty.


Originally, my best friend and I were happily shopping, but then we unintentionally saw Gu Zhiyan's secretary sweetly picking out rings.


She saw Qi Yao and me, raised her eyebrows, and smiled provocatively.


"Miss Bai is shopping again? You two really are leisurely. I have to say, us women should have a skill. Relying on a husband for a living is not a good thing. What if one day you grow old and lose your looks, and are replaced by someone younger? Who will support you then?"


Wasn't that just saying I have no skills and can only rely on a man for a living?


I was furious immediately, pointing at Guo Ting's nose, ready to confront her.


But before I could move forward, a pair of bony hands reached out and slapped my hand down.


He shielded Guo Ting behind him, frowned slightly, and said with a hint of warning, "Bai Muchi, how can you speak like that? Mind your image in public!"


He did not hold back that slap, and now my arm was red and swollen.


The burning pain in my arm made me frown involuntarily.


Gu Zhiyan clearly saw the red mark on my arm, and he hesitated, just about to say something, but Qi Yao pushed him aside.


Qi Yao couldn't stand to see me being hit. She glared fiercely at Gu Zhiyan and scolded, "Gu Zhiyan, are you even a man, helping outsiders bully your own wife!"


Gu Zhiyan's face turned a bit grim. He glanced at the secretary behind him, evidently weighing who was in the right.


Guo Ting immediately panicked. She squeezed out two fake tears, clutched Gu Zhiyan's sleeve timidly, and spoke in a soft tone full of weakness.


"Mr. Gu, I didn't bully Mrs. Gu. I just greeted her and told her we were picking out wedding rings. Who knew Mrs. Gu would get upset..."


Her baseless words and innocent act made Qi Yao and me furious.


Moreover, upon thinking deeply, wasn't she implying she and Gu Zhiyan were already involved?


Seeing Gu Zhiyan not refuting, my heart took a heavy blow, and the color quickly drained from my face.


My best friend evidently understood the implication of her words too and, seeing my face growing paler, gritted her teeth and rolled up her sleeves, preparing to get past Gu Zhiyan and slap Guo Ting.


Guo Ting acted like a startled rabbit, continuously trying to hide in Gu Zhiyan's arms.


Gu Zhiyan's expression was also a bit unpleasant. He shielded Guo Ting protectively in his arms and said coldly, "How did Zizhou spoil you into such an unreasonable shrew?"


Qi Yao was utterly infuriated, shouting at Gu Zhiyan, "Who here is being unreasonable?"


"Gu Zhiyan, did you even find out the truth of the matter before rushing to defend the bitch in your arms!"


Gu Zhiyan only shielded Guo Ting more firmly.


"Can't I see for myself what's right and wrong? When did you two become like this?"
