Chapter 13

That day, I was hanging up the freshly washed clothes.

My father called, asking me to attend a gathering, saying I should mingle with peers.

I knew what they were thinking, seeing I've been alone since the divorce, they wanted me to find someone.

Though I didn't share that thought, I went anyway to avoid their nagging.

I wore a casual dress and went to the party venue.

This party was hosted by vampires, with the majority being vampires and the rest humans.

My father was familiar with the host, and I knew them too.

Originally, it was my father who was invited, but he specifically asked the host to let me attend in his place.

I greeted the host, exchanged a few pleasantries, and went downstairs.

Vampires and humans look exceedingly similar; it's hard to differentiate unless they reveal their fangs and blood-red eyes.

I took a glass of wine in hand and went to hide in a corner.

Just as I was checking repeatedly to see how much longer the event was.
