Chapter 3

The speed of changing the lock was even more convenient than I imagined.

I got the new key and let out a heavy sigh of relief.

No matter what happens with other things, at least I've prevented Li Xiaoxiao from stealing the key to enter my house again.

In my past life, she stole my family heirloom gold ring, sold it, and paid off debts, maliciously knowing how important that ring was to me.

This time she won't have a chance!

Time flew by, and two days later, Li Xiaoxiao showed up all dolled up to see me.

Honestly, her look is indeed pretty. After all, she's always had a knack for dressing and makeup, but her appearance is somewhat lacking.

At five foot eight and weighing more than 160 pounds, she's almost a square shape.

Yet she always considers herself to be cute and lovely, and in turn, scoffs at my balanced figure.

No, perhaps it's not disdain but rather jealousy for being too envious to say anything nice.

"Ah Wu, let's go," Li Xiaoxiao walked over, holding my arm, habitually complaining, "It's all my husband's fault, he kept kissing me at home, I almost got late."

She seems to enjoy showing off how much others dote on her.

Watching Li Xiaoxiao's rosy skin, a thought suddenly crossed my mind.

So I inconspicuously tested her: "Xiaoxiao, have your depressive symptoms eased? I'm a bit worried about you, won't meeting strangers make you uncomfortable? How about we skip it?"

Depression can't possibly leave skin rosy, unmarred, and looking so healthy, right?

Li Xiaoxiao was first taken aback, then helplessly shook her head with a bitter smile.

"Not yet, I may go to the hospital for a check next week, get some medicine."

"But don't worry about me, I'm not socially anxious, don't fret, let's go."

A chill crept up inside me.

Has Li Xiaoxiao lied so much that she doesn't even know how many she's spun?

It seems she's been deceiving me from the very beginning.

In the past life, under Li Xiaoxiao's torment, my depression relapsed. Even though I had some semblance of being alive, half-dead, when the hospital diagnosed the severity, I had no desire for inpatient treatment.

Besides, medication would dull my emotions, and until I reached the end of my rope, I refused to relinquish my right to freedom.

After learning about my depression, Li Xiaoxiao not only failed to comfort me but also urged me to forgive the person responsible for it.

She even said, "Isn't it just being touched? When I was in high school, my male classmates touched me too!"

"Don't be pretentious, nothing really happened."

I thought she merely lacked empathy. Who knew that after my death, during the days my spirit was forced to follow her, I saw her using my unpublished works, getting surgery and liposuction, constructing a persona as a beautiful depressed writer, profiting greatly, living a life of victory.

And me?

To her words, all dirty deeds were coerced by me; she was the endlessly tolerant and gentle depressed writer friend.

Moreover, she claimed, "Before Ah Wu died, she always wanted to write books and become a writer, but she lacked talent. I felt sorry for her, so I gave her my works to publish, not expecting her to claim them as her own."

"This is my last work. Even though Ah Wu wasn't good, I'm willing to use my pen to mourn our friendship."

Unbelievable inversion of truth to the utmost shamelessness!

And for killing me, Zhou Tao ended up in prison. Li Xiaoxiao twisted her previous accusations against Zhou Tao, adding another angle of suffering to her story.

She washed herself completely clean.

I died in a filthy sack, my body parts drifting through the sewer, barely pieced together when finally retrieved.

With my persona and works, Li Xiaoxiao cleaned away all disgrace and filth, aborted the child in her womb, and became a gentle and kind beautiful writer with a shattered past, successfully marrying into wealth, living happily ever after.

I shut my eyes, erasing the bloody memories from my mind completely.

No rush.

I'm not in a hurry.

I have plenty of time to deal with Li Xiaoxiao.

I let Li Xiaoxiao pull me into the car, heading towards the destination she had set. Once we arrived, I inconspicuously turned on the recording on another phone in my bag.

The eyes of the new bear pendant on my bag shimmered as well.

"We're here, let's go inside," Li Xiaoxiao pushed the door open, leading me into the Nightclub.
