Primal break of balance(Whispers of the void)

Chapter 47: Whispers of the Void

Kael-X sat on a fallen pillar, staring at the ruins around him. The underground chamber felt ancient, far older than the city above. Cracks ran along the walls, strange symbols etched into the stone—symbols that pulsed faintly when Veyros walked by.

"These ruins," Kael-X muttered. "What the hell are they?"

Veyros stopped, his glowing eyes scanning the carvings. "A remnant of something forgotten. Something that should have stayed forgotten."

Kael-X raised a brow. "That's not vague at all."

The beast let out a dry chuckle. "Would you prefer a bedtime story? Or do you want the truth?"

Kael-X leaned forward. "Try me."

Veyros tilted his head. "Long ago, there were beings who could manipulate the very essence of existence. Some called them gods. Others called them monsters. Their creations linger in places like this, where the past refuses to die."

Kael-X frowned. "And you were connected to them?"

Veyros paced along the edge of the chamber, his tail flicking. "I served one who sought to control the void. He wanted to harness the power of the shadows, to command creatures like me… but in the end, even he wasn't strong enough."

Kael-X narrowed his eyes. "And now you're with me. What does that make me?"

Veyros grinned, showing sharp fangs. "That's the interesting part, isn't it? You're not like him. Not yet."

Kael-X sighed. "You really love messing with my head, don't you?"

"It's entertaining," Veyros admitted. "But also necessary. You should know what you're getting yourself into."

Before Kael-X could respond, the chamber trembled. Dust rained from above, and the air grew heavy.

A low hum filled the space, vibrating through the stone.

Veyros tensed. "We're not alone."

Kael-X stood up, his senses sharpening. "Who else would be down here?"

A voice echoed from the darkness. "The one who has been waiting."

From the shadows, a figure emerged.

Draped in tattered robes, their face obscured by a hood, the stranger radiated an aura of something ancient—something not entirely human.

Kael-X clenched his fists. "Alright. Who the hell are you?"

The figure took a slow step forward.

"I am the last keeper of the void… and you, Kael-X, are not ready for what comes next."

Chapter 47 (Continued): Keeper of the Void

Kael-X tensed, his body instinctively shifting into a combat stance. Veyros remained still beside him, his glowing amber eyes locked onto the hooded figure.

"The last keeper of the void?" Kael-X repeated, his voice edged with skepticism. "That's a dramatic title. You got a real name, or do you just introduce yourself like that to scare people?"

The figure chuckled, a sound like dry leaves rustling in the wind. "Names hold power, Kael-X. But if you insist… you may call me Erevos."

Kael-X frowned. "You know my name."

"I know much about you." Erevos took another step forward, and the air around them seemed to shift, as if the shadows themselves were bending in his presence. "I have been watching you since the moment you set foot on this planet. You are an anomaly, a force that was never meant to exist."

Kael-X narrowed his eyes. "And what's that supposed to mean?"

Erevos raised a hand, tracing a symbol in the air. The ruins around them pulsed, their carvings glowing with an eerie light. "You are Zypheron-born, yet you wield the power of the void. A contradiction. A paradox. Even your creators failed to anticipate what you would become."

Kael-X felt his fingers twitch. The mention of Zypheron-5 always made his blood boil, but this was different. Erevos spoke with certainty, as if he knew something even Kael-X didn't.

Veyros exhaled slowly. "He's not wrong."

Kael-X shot him a glare. "You knew?"

"I suspected," Veyros admitted. "Your power doesn't function like Zypheronian enhancements. It's more… primal. More dangerous."

Kael-X folded his arms. "Alright, so what? I've got some weird power inside me. Big deal. That doesn't explain what you want, Erevos."

The hooded figure tilted his head. "I want to warn you."

Kael-X raised an eyebrow. "Warn me about what?"

Erevos extended his hand toward the ruins, and the symbols flickered violently. "The balance of this world is fragile. And you, Kael-X, have disrupted it."

The air grew colder. The ruins groaned, as if the weight of something unseen pressed down upon them.

"The void has noticed you," Erevos continued. "And now, it is watching."

For the first time in a long while, Kael-X felt something unfamiliar.

A chill ran down his spine.

He wasn't sure if it was fear… or anticipation.
