chapter 71

Karina and I exit the elevator. We walk to the lobby and it's busy for some reason. A lot of people are gathered around watching something. We walk towards the crowd then we hear Ryujin and Travis laughing. What are they doing?

Karina and I start pushing some people aside to see what's going on. I look at Karina and we look to our partners that's playing a card game with random people.

"Uno!" Ryujin and Travis both say.

"I said it first!" Ryujin claims.

"No! I did!" Travis argues while people around them are watching.

"What the hell?" Karina says.

Ryujin and Travis sees us and stands up right away.

"Oh you're here" Travis nervously chuckles.

Normally I wouldn't be mad but I think my hormones are getting the best of me. Karina and I show that were angry at the two. It's kind of cute how terrified they look.

"You couldn't wait for us in the room because you're down here playing?" I question them.

"Well... I.. they invited us and I'm sorry" Ryujin looks down.

"Lame" Travis whispers but we heard it..

"What did you say? At least she's apologizing while you're standing there like an idiot" Karina snaps.

Travis was gonna say something but instead look down too like a puppy who just got scolded. People are watching us and some are probably saying bad things about 115.

"Hey, you two shouldn't yell at them like that. They were just having fun. What's wrong with that?" Some woman say.

I kinda want to laugh at this situation because the moment that woman said those words, Travis and Ryujin look up at the same time with wide eyes but I keep my composure.

"And who are you to tell us how to talk to my boyfriend and my sister's girlfriend?" Karina scarily approaches the woman.

Travis runs to Karina right away to hold her in case my sister gets a crazy ides likefight the woman.

"Let go of me, Travis!" She snaps at him.

"I can't. You're like a magnet and I'm stuck to you Travis tries to joke.

"Are you just gonna stand there or are you gonna come to me?" I glare at Ryujin.

"Of course, I'm going to you. I was just waiting for nothing" she walks to me with an apologetic smile.

She holds my hand and I let her because I'm upset but not that upset that I don't want her physical touch.

"I'm sorry. I love you" She says to me.

"I love you too but I don't like how there was a lot of women around you" I say.

"I didn't even notice. I was too focused on the game" she says.

"You're playing Uno. What kind of concentration do you need for that game?" I question her.

"A lot. You have to pay attention to the numbers AND colors" she emphasizes the word 'and' "Also, there's specialty cards like skip, reverse and those plus cards. Serious stuff" she says seriously but I know she's not

"You're ridiculous" I roll my eyes.

"Am I? How would I know if my turn is skipped if I don't pay attention?" She raises her brow.

"Okay I get it. It's a serious game" I chuckle.

She gives me a hig smile then goes behind me to give me a back hug. "I really am sorry. Don't be too upset she starts kissing my neck. I smack her because a lot of people are watching us.

She stops kissing me but we stay in that position while watching Karina and Travis.

"Look, babe. Ryujin and Yeji made up. We should too. You don't want to lose to them right?" Travis is now hiding behind one of the couches because my sister started kicking him when he wouldn't get off her.

"So what if they made up. We haven't" she says.

"Why are you so mad? Yeji, moved on. Why can't you?" He says and he covers his mouth once he realizes what he said.I hear Ryujin laugh a bit.

"Are you comparing me to my sister now? Do you want my sister now?" Karina is ready to jump over the couch to strangle the poor man.

"Of course not. Why would I say something so stupid? Karina, my one and only love. Let's make up and have a good day. I'll buy you any food you want" Travis desperately says.

My sister takes a deep breath, "Fine. Only because of the food. Not because of you" She says.

I see Travis finally able to breathe normally. He walks closer my sister and she hugs him right away. Ryujin and I laugh seeing the confuse look ort his face but he just accepts it.

At that moment. Ryujin's family comes back from their shopping to see a crowd around us.

"What happened?" Rosé ask.

"Mommy!" Eva cheers.

Ryujin let me go to get Eva and bring her to me. I carry her in my arms while Ryujin explains to her family the events of the lobby. I somewhat feel embarrassed for how I acted towards Ryujin. I've never confidently acted that way to any of my exes. I was always afraid they would hurt me. But with Ryujin I didn't have that fear. I didn't get scared that once were alone, she's gonna yell at me.

Ryujin goes to the restroom and Yuna sits next to me while we're waiting. "So how was it? Did you enjoy it?" She ask.

"Yuna!" I whisper shout.

"Don't tell me the details but did you like it? It's your first time with another girl right?" She continues to ask questions.

"Yes and yes" I answer because I know she won't drop the topic.

"Oh my god! That's so exciting!" She claps.

"Yuna leave her alone Ryujin comes back.

"Congratulations" she winks at Ryujin before running off.

Ryujin sighs and just laughs it off.

"Everyone ready? is walking alright for the pregnant women" Mr. Shin ask.

Karina, Rosé and I just glare at him. Honestly, I'm shocked and I'm sure Karina is too that we did that to him. They just make us feel so comfortable around them that we literally feel like a part of the family and we can do that to him.

He throws his hands up like he's surrendering. "Okay, jeez. It was just a question. Why do you all have to be pregnant at the same time."

"Hortey, stop talking" Mrs. Shin butts in.

We start walking out of the building. Kyujin and I are one of the last ones to get out.

"Ryujin, go ahead of us. I'd like to talk to Yeji" Mr. Shin tells his daughter. Ryujin looks at me to see if it's okay and I nod at her.

She runs after Yuna and kicks her on the butt so they start chasing each other. I laugh watching them while Mr. Shin walks next to me. I'm kind of nervous to be alone with him.

"How are you? Are you feeling okay?" He starts the conversation.

"Yes I'm doing well" I say.

"Tell me if ever Ryujin mistreats you, okay? I don't tolerate bad behaviors" he says as he watches his two youngest run around like crazy people.

He sighs "I can't stop crazy he jokes.

I laugh with him and we continue to walk.

"I'll go straight to the point of why I wanted to talk to you. Your sister told me where you live in Alberta and I have a friend there that owns a warehouse. I can refer you to him so you can work" he informs me and I stop walking because I don't know if I heard it right.

"Really? But why?" I ask.

"Because we want to help. I can't take all the credit. It was Mrs. Shin's idea. I know you've mentioned moving here one day with Ryujin but I'm assuming you need to work in the meantime correct?" He ask as we corntinue walking.

"Yes but you didn't have to offer me a job like that" I say looking straight ahead.

"I know but we want to. Ryujin has expressed to us her future plans with you and I'm assuming you see her in your future too. So sooner or later, you will oflicially be a part of this family so what's wrong with helping?" He says kind of questioningly"II' ever you can't work because maybe your pregnancy is too hard this time around or you just don't want to work, let us know and we will support you. If Eva or your new baby need anything, let us know" he says.

"Wait, what? Why? This isn't real right? You're not actually saying those words I'm hearing. It's not making sense why you're doing so much for me? Ryujin and I aren't married yet. We're just dating" I say, not believing anything.

"I hope I'm not offending you by what I'm offering. We've grown attach to Eva so we want to provide for her too like we would with Gabe. It might not make sense to you, at first it didn't make sense to me either but after marrying my wife, she's changed me. Her family has always been helpful. They have little to nothing but would give everything to the people in need" he pauses.

"I wasn't always like this. I was in the military then after I retired, I saw my kids a lot more. Rose and Yuna was easy but for some reason Ryujin and I would fight a lot. Ryujin is a lot like her mother. Very giving and caring so she's a bit more sensitive to things. We didn't see eye to eye, neither did my wife and I but she put up with me. My family is very closed minded, not as accepting. What's mine is mine mentality. Ryujin doesn't like that. She thinks if we have something to give then we should. Over time, I started just listening to my wife and it became second nature to me to just give. My relationship with Ryujin is getting better which I'm happy about he chuckles.

"I'm sorry I completely just ignored your question and started telling you a story. But were doing this because even if you're just a friend of my daughter, we would help you because she cares about you" he smiles at me.

I feel myself start tearing up. Damn hormones. He puts his hand on my shoulder. I think he's trying to comfort me. "Whatever you decide, don't feel shy about it. If you don't want to work, let us know. If you do, let us know he says.

"Thank you" I say choking up a bit

"Don't thank us. We're family now" he says.

He stops walking so I stop too. "Umm is it okay if I give you a hug?" He nervously ask.

I nod because I'm too emotional to answer.

He hugs me and I start crying. So many things are running through my mind. I love my parents but they weren't the best when it comes to supporting us when we were kids. I remember all the shit I went through with Dana's mom too. How everything is my fault whenever Dana is not happy. My cooking isn't good enough. My cleaning isn't good enough. I'm not pleasing Dana good enough. My job wasn't good enough. I was never good enough.He let go of me while he places his hands on my shoulders. I look up at him. "Don't cry. Ryujin might think I made you cry. She can actually take me down now" he jokes.

I wipe away my tears and smile at him.

"What happened?" We both look at Ryujin standing there, looking unhappy.

"Did he say something bad to you?" She approaches us.

"No" I say.

"Why are you crying then?" She pulls me away from him.

"He offered me a job and he said some really nice things to me and I started to feel emotional. He didn't hurt me in any way" I say to her.

She scans me from head to toe. "Are you sure?" She ask and I nod.

"I'll let you two walk together now. I took up enough of your time. Let me know what you decide, Yeji" he smiles before leaving.

Ryujin and I start walking but she's holding my hand really tight. I think she's worried that I'm lying so I tell her everything her dad and I talked about. I really love how protective Ryujin is of me. It really feels nice to have someone who makes you feel safe.
