CHAPTER 6: The Enemies Mercy

Pain.

It burned through Eloise's chest as she watched Roland fall lifeless to the ground.

Her breath hitched.

Her mind refused to accept it.

But the blood—the pool of deep crimson spreading beneath him—was real.

She choked on the lump in her throat. "Roland..."

A hand grasped her wrist.

Lillian.

Her face was pale, strained with effort as she cast a desperate spell. "Eloise! Help me!"

The other witches had already joined in, their voices rising in unison.

A wave of light erupted from their combined magic.

The spell cut through the battlefield like a storm, pushing the vampires back.

But the witches were faltering.

Their skin paled. Their knees buckled.

The spell was draining them.

Eloise's fingers trembled.

They had seconds before it consumed them whole.

Then—disappear.

The spell would transport them away.

But—

Eloise's gaze fell on Roland's lifeless body.

Her chest tightened.

I can't leave him.

She lunged forward—

And the spell took them.

Vanishing.

All of them.

Except—

Eloise.

She had stayed behind.

Alone.

Among the enemy.

---

A Silent Witness

The battlefield had gone quiet.

Only the distant crackling of fire and the rustling of ash filled the empty air.

Kastiel stood, towering over her.

His lips curled in a slow, satisfied grin. "How poetic."

Eloise tightened her grip on her dagger.

Her heartbeat roared in her ears.

She wouldn't go down without a fight.

Kastiel took a step forward, claws glinting under the moonlight.

"Time to end this."

Then—

A whistle.

A sharp, slicing sound cut through the air.

An arrow.

It pierced Kastiel's chest before he could strike.

His eyes widened.

A perfect shot—straight to the heart.

Eloise's breath caught.

She spun—

And froze.

Selene.

She was there. Watching.

But before Eloise could even process it, Selene disappeared.

Gone.

Like a ghost in the dark.

The Aftermath

Eloise stared at the empty space where Selene had been.

Her mind reeled.

Selene—the monster she swore to kill—had just saved her life.

Her heart pounded painfully in her chest.

Why?

Kastiel staggered, his body rejecting the arrow.

It wouldn't kill him.

He would rise again.

Eloise clenched her fists.

She had no choice.

With one last look at Kastiel's fallen form, she vanished.

The war had ended.

But something far more dangerous had begun.
