The perspective shifted. Deep within the dense forest of the uninhabited island, where the terrain was rough and uneven, the sound of rustling leaves broke the silence.
A hand emerged from behind the overgrown weeds atop a small mound, carefully pushing them aside.
The face that appeared behind it was one familiar to every first-year student—Ryuen Kakeru.
Just as Kure Ragna had suspected, Ryuen had never left the island. Instead, he had chosen to remain hidden, lurking in the shadows.
Beyond the mound, concealed by thick vegetation, lay a small natural basin with a shallow pond at its center.
The area was isolated, the terrain difficult to traverse, making it an unlikely spot for anyone to stumble upon.
A tent, a portable shower, and a portable toilet were set up in this hidden refuge—the very same supplies Class D had purchased during the exam.
Ryuen had relocated them here, securing his base for solo survival.
It was a logical move. As long as the special exam continued, these resources remained his to use.
Ryuen exhaled softly, ensuring the area was clear before letting the weeds fall back into place.
He returned to the center of the basin, settling onto a spread-out tablecloth.
From his bag, he retrieved a detailed map of the island, two locations already crossed out—the strongholds of Class B and Class C.
After making the necessary adjustments, he reached into his tent, pulling out a boxed meal that had long gone cold.
He ate in silence, his sharp gaze locked onto the map.
"Damn Class A… Where the hell are they hiding?"
From the first day of the exam, this question had plagued him.
Now, on the third day, there was still no trace of them—no sightings, no rumors, nothing.
"Did they burrow underground like moles?"
The thought made him clench his jaw. Frustration threatened to boil over.
Kure Ragna's assumptions about Ryuen's plan had been partially correct.
The 150 class points for identifying the leader were definitely on his radar, but they weren't his only goal.
In fact, compared to his true objective, those points were merely a bonus.
Ryuen was ruthless—not just to others, but to himself.
His original strategy had been straightforward: strike a deal with Class A.
He planned to transfer 100 test points worth of supplies to them, keeping only 50 points for himself.
His class would enjoy a comfortable day on the island before he ordered everyone except himself, Ibuki, and Kaneda to return to the cruise ship.
The trade-off?
Every member of Class A would transfer 200 personal points to him each month, indefinitely.
By exam rules, his class points wouldn't drop below zero, meaning even if he burned through all 150 points, it wouldn't matter.
And if he successfully identified the leaders of the other classes, he could secure an additional 150 class points on top of the deal.
The Potential Outcome?
If everything went as planned, Class D could walk away with a net gain of 300+ class points, making them the biggest winners of the exam.
In contrast, the other classes faced a different reality.
Surviving on the island wasn't free. Daily necessities alone—food, water, and other essentials—cost at least 30 points per day, meaning that by the end of the week, most classes would be left with only 100 points at best.
If they played it safe and avoided guessing class leaders, their total points wouldn't increase.
And if they guessed wrong? They could lose everything.
Given all this, Ryuen's strategy was airtight—as long as he found Class A.
But there was one problem.
He hadn't found them.
No matter how hard he searched, Class A had vanished into thin air.
Time was slipping away, and by the second day, his patience had reached its limit.
Frustrated, he made a bold move.
He spent the remainder of his points to extend his class's stay by one more day, then sent all 37 members back to the cruise ship—except for himself and his two most trusted subordinates, Ibuki and Kaneda.
Now, his only hope rested on one thing:
—Identifying the Class A leader and securing those 150 points.
Ryuen's grip tightened on the map. His voice was low, muttering as if speaking to ghosts.
"Ibuki, Kaneda… don't disappoint me."
