(System Message)
"Quest: Lost in a Thick Forest
Task: Kill the enemies and the floor boss within 20160 minutes. Your time will start as soon as you step your feet inside the door.
Warning: 3 chances of revival will be removed once failed to conquer the floor. This may result in your permanent death.
When I stepped my feet inside the door, what greeted me was seven individuals wearing a brown bishop-like outfit. They were surrounding the circle-like glowing thing. And in the middle of the circle was a child, crying. They were wearing hoods so I couldn't see their faces.
"...please, Goddess of wickedness bestow us with the power that we seek… Here is a child, our offer. Give us-"
They probably sensed me since all of them turned their heads on me.
"Intruder!"
"Intruder!"
"Must kill the intruder!"
"Yes…yes…kill…kill!"
All of them raised their hands and another gigantic circle appeared above them.
Appraisal result:
Name: The Four
Type: Mage (Necromancer)
Level: 70
Skill: Summoning
Magic Attack: 500
Magic Type: Dark Magic
"Come forth, Destroyer!"
Coming from the summoning circle, huge brown bears appeared. All of them have three red eyes, a horn above the middle eye located at its forehead, and massive canines ready to tear me apart. I had never seen such a bear before, but knowing this was a magical tower and all of my enemies were all-powerful, there was nothing impossible here.
There were too many of them. I'll have a difficult time if I fight them. But then, I remember I have this one ability.
Appairal Result:
Name: Mutated Bears
Level: 50
Physical attack: 50
"Psyche."
"Yes?"
"Activate slavery."
"Calculating AoC (Area of caster) all possible areas will be covered. Anyone in the AoC will be affected by this skill. Proceed?"
"Do not cast the child with the skill. Spare here."
"Understood. Skill Slavery casted!"
"Attack her! Make sure to feed in her flesh!" The one hooded monk ordered.
The mutated bear roared and lunged at me.
I braced myself and was about to defend myself when all the bears dropped down before me.
"Kill them," I ordered.
The mutated bears turned their heads to the four casters and started to run back at them.
"What!? What are you trying to do? Attack her, not us!" one of them screamed as the four mutated bears started to attack him.
"Psyche."
"Yes?"
"Shouldn't those bastards be affected by the slavery skill?"
"Yes, I noticed that too."
"Come to think of it, the appraisal result never mentioned them being the flood boss. It means those bastards are probably controlled by the real boss somewhere and it's not in the AoC. I couldn't detect the boss's mana."
"The boss must be-"
I was disturbed by a loud scream of fear and I saw the little girl being approached by one of the monks.
"I need to offer you, little girl!"
"Help! Help me! Please help me! I want my mommy! Mommy!" The little girl's face was full of horror and fear as she watched the knife ready to take her life.
The monk was about to stab the little girl with the dark knife he was holding.
Sensing I needed a weapon that was accurate and could kill without fail, the bow of coldness appeared before me.
The bow was made of white crystal just like the iceberg in the Antarctic and it was cold. It gives the name Coldness because its coldness stings me. I pulled its string, and an arrow made of the same ice crystal appeared, and let it go, aiming at the monk's back head.
The monk dropped dead before the scared little girl. I approached her as the mutated bears' deed on the other three monks.
"It's okay little girl, you're safe now," I said, kneeling before her, tapping her head slightly.
"T-thank you miss!" she replied and hugged me.
Suddenly, I felt something stung on the right side of my torso.
"Stupid," I heard the little girl whisper to my ear. "You easily let your guard down.m," she added and I felt the thing make its way through my torso, cutting me in two.
What happened? My eyes diverted to the smirking little girl holding a gigantic black sword coated with blood.
Appraisal result:
Name: Joan of Arc
Type: sword-type dark summoner (Mage/swordsman)
Title: Floor Boss
Level: 100
Skill: Incantation Less summoning
Strength: 10000
Magic attack: 10500
Mana: Infinite
Healing: Infinite
Ah shit…I whispered and her image turned upside down to my eyes as my upper body fell on the floor.
*System Message*
"You died. Failed to conquer the floor"
"You consumed 1 revival chance"
"Remaining revival chance: 2"
"Due to special conditions, the guest Violet will teleport back to the door of floor Boss Joan the Arc."
"You have 30 minutes before reentering the door. The remaining time will resume upon entering."
I slowly opened my eyes and I saw I was still at the same door. I died before I could even do anything, such a clever bitch.
"The floor is too much for you, Vi. She's level 100 and killing her would be impossible. You're half level behind her."
"Yeah, I figured it out. She's too strong. And according to my Appraisal, she's a magic-type swordsman and summoner mage. Two titles. Quite scary. And even the Mana management couldn't even read her mana perception."
"That is because she has the advanced Mana concealment which a much lower-level opponent won't be able to read."
"Damn it. She killed me within a few seconds."
"That's why we need to think about our offense. We still don't know what she's capable of. And she was able to conceal her mana."
I bit my thumb as I started to think.
"Would slavery work on her?"
"Yes, probably."
"Chances?"
"I say 30% for higher-level opponents. Slavery worked well for the lower-level opponent. And it's still in Cool-down mode. 25 minutes."
If I want to use it, I need to prolong the fight until the cool-down is done. But the question is, will I be able to survive that long? I need it to cast my trump card, the Chain of Tartarus. If I cast it wrong, my chances of revival will be used up. The chance I have if Joan decides to taunt me with her summons. With that, I let Psych cast the skill while I'm fighting after it cools down.
"I have a plan and need you to listen well and pay attention, Psyche. I need you to focus only on this plan and abandon everything"
I told Psyche my plan even if it was risky.
"If I die, will the casting of Slavery and Chain of Tartarus be undone?"
"No. The AoC will not be affected if you cast it in the same place before dying. Your plan is risky. You only have 2 chances of revival. If you use it up, it's a game over."
I smiled.
"I guess I need to use all my resources to prevent that. And I'll start my equipped weapons. I need you to tell me the buff of the weapon set."
An opaque screen appeared before me.
*Report by Weapon Keeper*
*Greetings Master here is the information about the Ice Weapon set*
Weapon set when Equipped:
Boost physical damage for 100% on the field and an extra 200% in defense. 50% Magic Damage ignored for each 10%. In a special condition, weapon buffs' will escalate by 100% if fused with their corresponding element. However, it'll cost 50 to 60% of mana and 70% of HP. Ice element will need a life force to be able to transfer inside the Weapon Phantasm. And mana to process the fusing.
I checked my HP level and saw 2500/5000. Joan took half of my HP when she killed me. And if I were to use the special condition of the weapon, it'd consume 1750 of my hp. And the remaining HP will only be 750.
"Will you allow the fusition, Vi? Are you willing to gamble?"
I smirked.
"I gambled a lot back when I was still alive on earth. I couldn't count how many times I was fighting with death but I ended up alive. There is no difference here. I will do anything to win this fight even if I die trying."
"Infusing Ice Element to Weapon Phantasm. It will take 3 minutes to complete."
I looked at the System time.
5 minutes remaining.
"Fusing has been successful. Weapon Keeper armed the weapon set in the Weapon Phantasm.
Weapon phantasm's shield increased to 50%. It'll not guarantee that it can hold class S magic equipment."
The sound of a chime and the warning of time's up mixed in and increased my nervousness as the door opened.
