Chapter 50: The Cleanup Continues

"Zenitsu, I'm sorry! There's only me and my older brother at home. His name is Shinichi Murata. A few years ago, he passed the Demon Slayer Corps selection and joined the Demon Slayer Corps," Shinji Murata explained to Zenitsu and also introduced his older brother.

"Your brother is amazing! He managed to pass the selection! If it weren't for Tanjiro and Haru-senpai, I'd probably be dead by now," Zenitsu said with a sigh.

Upon hearing this, Tanjiro and Shinji Murata both felt that Zenitsu was pretending to be weaker than he was. Tanjiro and Shinji Murata had both witnessed Zenitsu's strength. During their previous battle, Zenitsu had killed more than ten demons.

Such a record made it hard to believe Zenitsu's claim that he'd have died without Haru and Tanjiro. If it weren't for Haru's cleanup, the demons on Mount Fujikasane would never have gathered in such large numbers tonight. In normal circumstances, Zenitsu's ability would have kept him alive on Mount Fujikasane for seven days without any problem.

Tanjiro and Shinji Murata both figured Zenitsu was deliberately pretending to be weaker, so neither of them tried to expose him.

"By the way, Tanjiro, where is Haru-senpai?" Zenitsu suddenly noticed that Haru was not with them.

Hearing this, Shinji Murata also realized that Haru was missing and became curious about where Haru had gone.

"Haru-senpai went to kill more demons! Based on what happened last night, Haru-senpai probably plans to wipe out all the demons on Mount Fujikasane!" Tanjiro explained without hesitation, telling Zenitsu and Shinji Murata where Haru had gone.

Shinji Murata was genuinely filled with respect for Haru. How deep must Haru's hatred for demons be?

It was clear that with strength came the freedom to do whatever one wanted.

The three of them soon arrived at a forest marked with Haru's water pattern. This was a safety zone that Haru had marked. Tanjiro and the others stopped walking and chose to rest here for a while.

With the death of Hand Demon, Haru had become a nightmare for all the remaining demons on Mount Fujikasane. The surviving demons stopped hunting and instead decided to wait for the selection to end, hoping to see Haru leave.

So that night's hunt turned into a game of hide-and-seek.

Luckily, Haru had the small map to guide him, which made finding the demons much easier.

However, compared to the previous night, tonight's efficiency was significantly lower because the demons were hiding in more secretive, remote, and scattered locations.

In the following days, Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Shinji Murata reunited with the main group. After a few days of recovery, the spirits and conditions of the young boys had improved a lot.

Since they hadn't encountered any demons in these days, the psychological effects the demons had on them were also fading.

When the group saw Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Shinji Murata return, they were surprised.

The boys who had been staying in the safety zone had heard from the first group that came back about Tanjiro's encounter. Since Tanjiro and the others hadn't returned on the same day, they assumed Tanjiro's group had met their end. They never expected them to return now.
