Chapter 52: Passing the Selection

With Haru present, the chaotic situation was quickly brought under control. After that, no other boys dared to step forward and cause trouble.

"Haru-senpai, did you kill all the demons?" Tanjiro no longer dwelled on the previous matter and curiously asked Haru.

Haru nodded and simply said three words, "Killed them all!"

Before the sun rose, Haru had finally killed the last demon on Mount Fujikasane after four days of relentless hunting, earning the reward for completing the mission.

Haru was still researching the Breath of the Wood technique. As for the D-level Demon God Devourer ability, it allowed Haru to consume demons with Blood Demon Arts and gain the ability to use their powers. However, this could only be done in his demonized form, not in his normal state.

Demons with Blood Demon Arts had a much higher level of power compared to the demons Haru had slain on Mount Fujikasane. Blood Demon Arts were an evolved skill created by demons, and these skills came in various types, each demon having their unique Blood Demon Art.

Since Haru hadn't encountered many demons with Blood Demon Arts, he didn't fully understand how they worked yet.

Afterward, Haru didn't stay with the boys but instead led Tanjiro and the others to a quieter spot to rest.

"Haru-senpai, now that all the demons are dead, what do we do next?" After sitting down, Tanjiro asked Haru.

"Wait for the time to end and complete the selection," Haru replied calmly.

The following days were incredibly relaxing. During this time, the weakest of the boys, Murata Shinji, was in charge of preparing the food. With nothing else to do, Tanjiro practiced the Water Breathing technique over and over again. Whenever he encountered something he didn't understand, he would ask Haru for guidance.

In addition to guiding Tanjiro, Haru spent his time researching the Breath of the Wood. Since the system had only awarded him the Breath of the Wood, Haru wasn't sure if it, like the Water Breathing, had its own unique techniques.

The days passed quickly, and seven days had gone by.

As the morning sunlight began to rise, Haru led Tanjiro and the others down the mountain.

By this time, a large crowd had gathered at the base of the mountain, most of them having passed the selection thanks to Haru's help.

However, Haru didn't think much of it; he was just doing his job to complete the task.

When the boys who had been saved by Haru saw him, they respectfully stepped aside in awe.

Haru's arrival felt almost divine, as though a god had descended.

Tanjiro, scanning the crowd, quickly spotted the only girl who had come to participate in the selection.

Upon seeing her, Tanjiro felt relieved. She hadn't encountered any trouble after all!

Haru also noticed the little girl and couldn't help but think, "Could she have been hiding? I've searched through all of Mount Fujikasane and still didn't find her!"

This time, Haru didn't approach her.

"Welcome back!"

With a soft voice, the two big-eyed little girls from earlier appeared beneath the wisteria tree.

The two girls walked up to the crowd and continued, "Congratulations to everyone for successfully passing the selection."
