Chapter 13: Confronting the Truth
I stood outside Rachel's dorm room, my heart racing with anger and sadness. I had just seen Alex lying on the ground, bleeding and unconscious. I knew that Rachel was behind this, and I was determined to confront her.
I took a deep breath and knocked on the door. Rachel answered, a smug look on her face.
"Well, well, well," she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Look what we have here. The little mistress, come to confront me."
I felt a surge of anger, but I kept my cool. "Rachel, what did you do?" I demanded. "Alex is lying in the hospital, fighting for his life. What did you do?"
Rachel shrugged, her expression unrepentant. "I didn't do anything," she said. "But I know people who did. People who were willing to teach Alex a lesson for messing with me."
I felt a wave of revulsion wash over me. "You're sick, Rachel," I spat. "You're a sick, twisted person who will stop at nothing to get what you want."
Rachel smiled, her eyes glinting with malice. "I'll do whatever it takes to protect myself and my reputation," she said. "And if that means hurting Alex or you, then so be it."
I felt a surge of anger and adrenaline. I wanted to lash out at Rachel, to hurt her the way she had hurt Alex. But I knew that wouldn't solve anything. Instead, I turned and walked away, determined to find a way to bring Rachel to justice.
As I walked, I felt a sense of purpose and determination. I was going to make sure that Rachel paid for what she had done. I was going to make sure that Alex got the justice he deserved.
And I was going to make sure that Rachel never hurt anyone again.
