Chapter 24: A Broken Heart

Maya trudged back to her dorm room, her heart feeling like it had been shattered into a million pieces. She couldn't believe what Alex had said to her. How could he think she was just a user, someone who would manipulate and hurt him?

As she opened the door to her room, her roommate, Emily, looked up from her book. "Hey, girl, what's wrong?" Emily asked, concern etched on her face.

Maya collapsed onto her bed, tears streaming down her face. "Alex," she sobbed. "He says I'm just a side chick, that I've been using him."

Emily's expression turned angry. "That jerk," she said. "Forget him, Maya. He's not worth your tears."

But Maya shook her head. "You don't understand," she said. "Alex lost his memory. He doesn't remember anything about us, about our relationship. And Rachel, that devil, she's been poisoning his mind against me."

Emily's expression softened. "Oh, Maya, I'm so sorry," she said. "But what can you do? You can't force him to remember."

Maya wiped her tears away, determination burning in her heart. "I won't give up on him," she said. "I'll find a way to make him remember, to make him see the truth. Rachel's not going to win this time."
