Hello, It’s Me

Oroc was digging one day when he struck something hard. He dropped the pickaxe and picked up a shovel. He stuck it in the ground and stomped it deeper. He pushed down as he tried to dig it out. The shovel broke and he stumbled and fell. The moment he hit the ground his eyes glowed and his memories came flooding in.

Immediately he went around looking for the others. He found Art but he did not seem to recognize him. There was no hint of recognition. The meal they shared, awkward moments, and even sleepless nights were all gone. Oroc knew it would be the same for the others.

"Get back to work."

A patch guard said and dragged Oroc away from Art. He went back and continued digging. As he dug he wondered if it would have been better to forget. He removed the stone. He then saw something glowing in the soil. He quickly dug with his hands. It was a light key, that night when he went home he placed it under his pillow.

He was waken up by the horn of the white tower. He got up got ready and joined the queue. The night after work he fell on his bed and the light key pierced his skin. This brought back all his memories.

To make sure he did not forget Oroc went out that night to look for more light keys. He roamed the Aporia looking for light keys. He made sure to avoid the guards. From a distance, he saw the glow of the light keys.

Unfortunately, it was in the gray zone and they had been told not to go there. He looked around and there was no one in sight. He stepped into the gray zone and immediately his muscles tensed up. He quickly stepped back into the white zone.

He looked at the glow and ran into the gray zone. His muscles, tensed, and calluses grew all over his body. This did not stop Oroc, he got there to see nine keys. He quickly made his way back. When he got home, he took short naps. He made sure he stabbed himself with the light key immediately his horn sounded.

That morning he joined the queue and matched to the white tower. There he roamed and searched for the others. In his search, he bumped into some. The person turned around, and Oroc stepped back. His heart started to beat faster. It was the man who killed them, he had no flames covering him. By then the guards had noticed him. He saw them move through the crowds.

Oroc moved quickly as he tried to avoid them.

"He has killed many, he probably does not remember everyone he has killed." Oroc thought as he moved through the crowd. He saw Aria and grabbed her, she fought him off and ran.

"Wait Aria, it is me." Oroc scream chasing her. She then started to call for help. This got the guards' attention. Oroc took out one of the keys ready to stab Aria with it. When he caught up with her, he was about to stab her when the guards grabbed his hands.

"No, no," Oroc said as they dragged him away.

He was taken into the white tower. Until that day, Oroc had never thought of the white tower as a building one could enter. He never saw anyone enter or leave.

He would not have believed it if he had not seen it with his own eyes. It was a little dirty on the outside but the inside was pristine. Huge support beams held the floors above. Ground made of white marble. There were no chairs or decorations. The closest thing to a decoration was water damage that made the wall textured.

They walked him down the hall. As the head down further Oroc heard a scream. He stopped and tried to run away. The guards grabbed him but when he did not move. They pushed him, with his legs sledding on the marble floor. They turned right only to meet a man being escorted out. He had a blank look on his face. This scared Oroc even more he pushed one of the guards and punched the other one in the face. He ran only to feel a sharp pain in his back and his whole body tense up.

They dragged his stiff body to the room and strapped him to a recliner chair. They went around the room pushing buttons. Oroc lay there as he watched them.

Soon he felt the sensation in his body return. When one of the guards got closer to restrain him. He stabbed him with the light key.

At first, he thought nothing happened. Then all of a sudden he fell knocking down a tray. This got the other guard's attention. By the time Orac was out, he walked out with a blank stare. As he was walking he saw a guard without a uniform. His body was made of different body parts that were sewn together. At that moment he knew why they were called patches guards. He got out and disappeared into the crowd.

He did not linger on the patch guards too long. He had to wake up the others. He searched, literally turning heads to find him.

Aria went home to see Oroc there. He put his hand over her mouth and stabbed her from behind.
