Chapter Six: Why Don't Men Bring Their Wu Hook

I looked at him with some disgust, then glanced at Feiyang, who was standing aloof, completely ignoring him. He stood up and said, "Meng'er, let's go."

I nodded and followed him.

That guy seemed quite brazen, suddenly blocking my way. His movements were quick, yet there was something slippery about him, reminiscent of a muddy loach.

"Move aside!"

For the first time, I hated this wretched body of mine. Back when I was writing about the raccoon, my movements were so agile, even Lian Zhu said that the moment he caught a glimpse of a blue lightning flash, he had to strike, otherwise he wouldn't be able to catch the raccoon that ran off to steal the Langgan jade! But... but at this moment, I nearly crashed into that person because I couldn't react in time. He was so slippery that he didn't seem like a good person at all.

"Miss, no need to be angry. Our Jianghai Gang has now entered the Meng Po Sect, and we are the largest gang in the martial world. How could we treat a beauty like you unfairly? We mean no harm; going to Kunlun is somewhat perilous, but with a skilled practitioner like you, it should be no problem even facing the greatest dangers."

I lost my temper and shouted, "I want to go to Shaohao, why would I go to Kunlun? I hate you, get out of my way!"

Not only did he not move aside, but he also grinned and seemed to want to say something. Before he could speak, a long sword had quietly appeared at his throat.

"Scram!" Feiyang said in a low voice.

The sudden appearance of the long sword startled him, but this guy was really slippery. He stepped back and pulled out two short daggers from who knows where, aiming them at my neck, which made me quickly shut my eyes.

Next, I heard a heavy object dropping, followed by the sound of short daggers clattering to the ground one after another, which didn't come near me at all.

Trembling, I opened my eyes to find Feiyang had sheathed his sword and reached for my hand.

Looking at that slippery loach, I saw him lying on the ground, eyes wide and stiff, with the daggers stuck next to his ears. He looked thoroughly terrified.

I obediently let Feiyang lead me away, my curiosity piqued. I tugged him back to look at that guy. Hehe, this is so fun; this person is completely stiff, mouth open, unable to speak, and can't even close it. Oh, what a great way to catch a loach.

"Feiyang, how did you do that? Why is this loach not slippery anymore?" I said, patting the guy's face, making a slapping sound—so much fun!

Feiyang hadn't answered me yet when the guy's companions all stood up, weapons drawn, the clanging sound unceasing. The previously deep voice resounded again.

"Who are you, sir?"

Feiyang sneered and ignored him completely.

"Who would have thought that you could use sword energy to pressure points. Only the top experts in the martial world can do that. Please forgive me for being blind. I don't recall a young hero possessing such skills. Are you perhaps a disciple of a famous family, newly emerging in the martial world?"

Feiyang still ignored him, simply holding my hand while letting me poke around on that guy. I looked up at him, hehe, my husband is quite cool.

"Do you look down upon us? While we may not be your match, if it comes to fighting, do you really believe you can keep that defenseless young lady safe?"

Feiyang coldly laughed, "I already spared him. If you want to try your luck, please feel free to come at me together. But let me be clear: one-on-one, I don't injure; two-on-one, I hurt but don't kill. If it's three-on-one or more, each strike is to kill. Do you believe that?"

Upon hearing this, the bunch of rough men who were eager to try their luck actually hesitated. After a moment, the earlier guy said, "You indeed have such ability. Fine, we came here today with no malicious intent; we merely wanted to invite you both to join us on our journey. Since you refuse, we'll take our leave."

Feiyang did not respond, just slightly cupped his hands in salute, and then pulled me towards the door.

Standing outside the inn, I asked him softly, "Why didn't you teach that guy a lesson? What does it mean 'not to injure and not to bleed'?"

Feiyang pondered for a moment before answering, "It's not easy for anyone walking the martial world. You've heard, they are under Meng Po's order to go to Kunlun. That Kunlun Sect is known for its evil practices; they likely wanted to invite you along because they believe your magical skills can counter their evil. The thought isn't unreasonable."

"Invite me? Hmph, Old Phoenix promised my family would help, and that I could choose any treasure from there. Do they think two pieces of beef can entice me? By the way, Feiyang, the Meng Po Sect sounds interesting. Do you know the story of Meng Po? Meng'er loves listening to stories."

"Um."

"'Um' is not a story!" I pushed him in protest.

"Alright, alright, the Meng Po Sect appeared ten years ago. They have grown powerful and have killed many, but also saved many. Overall, they can be considered a compassionate sect."

"Oh, so Meng Po Sect is indeed ruthless? But how can that still count as compassion?"

"If killing one can save a hundred, then killing that one is surely a form of compassion for the one hundred saved, no?"

I was stunned. Oh, killing one to save a hundred? But… but… I felt something was off; human life shouldn't be treated as arithmetic, right?

I turned my eyes and suddenly remembered when I first met him and the whole self-killing incident. "Then why aren't you compassionate to yourself?"

"Compassionate to myself?" Feiyang seemed to not quite understand.

I lowered my head, feeling rather embarrassed as I murmured, "That day I accidentally told you to take your own life. I just said it casually; why did you really do it?"

Chen Feiyang looked at me, his expression a bit strange as he smiled, "Meng'er, you have no idea how terrifying you can be. You were there wallowing in self-pity and asking me to die. I didn't cover my eyes or yet cultivated my focus; wouldn't I be muddled and just do as you said? Luckily you saved me. So, you don't have to owe me gratitude. It is I who should thank you."

I was dumbfounded and, after a long while, finally regained my senses. I was furious, shouting, "You… you… you… Chen Feiyang! So you never really liked me? I thought you truly wanted to die for me!"

Chen Feiyang replied nonchalantly, "'Why don't men bring their Wu hook to conquer fifty states across mountains and rivers'? A true man is shaped in heaven and earth, facing the duality of Yin and Yang. Standing tall amidst the flow of time for mere decades, one should aim to cultivate oneself and achieve extraordinary endeavors, leaving behind remarkable achievements and showcasing one's aspirations. How can a dignified man choose to die for a woman?"

I glared at him, feeling both angry and wronged. My sharp tongue was renowned throughout Kunlun, yet at this moment, I found myself at a loss for words. After struggling for a long time without saying a single word, tears began to fall. I stomped my feet in frustration before finally breaking free from his hand and randomly choosing a direction to run off.

After just a few steps, I bumped straight into someone, raising my tear-filled eyes to see it was Chen Feiyang. He smiled wryly and wrapped his arm around me, saying, "Alright, Meng'er, didn't you say not to let me kill myself? Do you really want me dead?"

"Get lost!"

I broke free from his embrace, my thoughts whirling as I disappeared without a trace. I cast several Zhuang Zhou Dream Orbs, and two dream spirits swiftly appeared, standing on either side of him at a distance of several zhang down the official road. One looked cold and stubborn, while the other had tears and a pitiful expression.

Chen Feiyang was quite perceptive; he didn't look at the two dream spirits but carefully examined the direction I hid in. "Meng'er, come out. I know you're not over there."

I didn't respond. The tearful dream spirit suddenly cried out, covering its face and running east down the official road, while the stubborn one glared at Chen Feiyang and sneered, "You're right; I'm really not over here. But here is…" As she spoke, she made several hand seals and threw them, and in an instant, more dream spirits began to appear on the official road, some sobbing, some resolute, some disdainful, and some mischievous.

Chen Feiyang carefully observed those dream spirits as they appeared. His originally clear eyes now held a hint of confusion. I seized the opportunity to gently push my thoughts into his consciousness. The dream spirit that had been casting spells began to show an increasingly sorrowful expression. "Chen Feiyang, I see I misjudged you!" After saying this, she ran towards the west side of the official road, disappearing after a few steps.

Sure enough, Chen Feiyang took the bait. He had been only a short distance away from me, but now he rushed to the side where that spirit had gone. First, he glanced around the remaining few spirits that gradually began to fade, then went to the corner of the inn, twirling his sword to draw a strange pattern, before rushing down the west side of the official road, softly calling my name, "Meng'er, hey, Meng'er, Shaohao Mountain is to the east!"

Very well, I sneered inwardly; since Shaohao Mountain is to the east, I might as well go by myself.

Just as I was about to cast the technique "Tianya Zhichi" to shrink the distance, I suddenly froze: how far is that Shaohao Mountain to the east?

Should I take the wind to fly? But when my master taught me the Wind Control Technique, I was… I was napping… We raccoon spirits are different from humans; we need to sleep at least twice as much as ordinary people and even more than immortals!

I stood invisibly by the official road, feeling both helpless and tearful.

Honestly, Chen Feiyang didn't do anything wrong, did he? I actually threw a tantrum just because he wouldn't die for me? Wujiao always says I'm spoiled; it seems he was right. I really don't understand; Feiyang was also right when he asked, "Do you really want me dead?" I certainly don't want him to die, but I can't stand his disdain for me. I can't bear it when he says, "A true man would not die just for a woman." I thought offering my life was a tremendous favor to him, but now it seems it was quite the opposite.

Tears welled up as they rolled down my cheeks, and for some reason, my heart felt exceptionally heavy.
