Chapter 6

Deciding to bid farewell to the past, once and for all.

Meanwhile, Evelina hadn't even considered making a phone call, instead playing with the children until dusk.

Only when the kids grew tired and fell asleep did she finally remember me.

Finding a moment to spare, she called me.

Discovering my phone was off, she quietly grumbled, "What's gotten into Dashiell? Since when did he become so petty?"

She assumed I was still angry and throwing a tantrum, unaware that my heart had already died.

Eight years of love, now bidding farewell.

That night, Evelina stayed at her parents' house, at the request of their two children.

They wanted their dad and mom to spend more time with them.

Evelina hesitated, but her mother encouraged, "Staying back one night won't hurt. I doubt Dashiell would dare to say anything about it?"

"He wouldn't dare!" Her father fumed. "Evelina is our precious daughter. What's he gonna do? Start a rebellion?!"
