POV: Female Lead (Ha-neul)
The grenade felt like a death sentence.
Do-hyun stood at the entrance, blood dripping from his lips.
His thumb hovered over the pin.
"If I die," he sneered, "so do you."
Min-jae's grip on her tightened.
Jin-ho and his men stood frozen.
No one dared to move.
One wrong step—
Boom.
She studied Do-hyun.
His hands shook.
His face—pale.
He was stalling.
He wouldn't throw it.
Not yet.
Her mind raced.
She needed to act. Fast.
She took a slow step forward. Calm. Unshaken.
Do-hyun's eyes narrowed.
"Stay back, Ha-neul!" Min-jae hissed.
She ignored him.
"You won't do it." Her voice was steady.
Do-hyun's lips curled. "Wanna bet?"
She held his gaze. Unblinking.
"You love control," she whispered. "But right now, you're losing it."
Do-hyun's fingers tightened around the grenade.
"Shut up."
She took another step.
"If you let go, you die too. Are you really willing to do that?"
His jaw clenched.
She saw it then.
Doubt.
Fear.
The realization that he didn't want to die.
But before she could push further—
Min-jae moved.
Fast.
He lunged.
Grabbed Do-hyun's wrist—
And twisted.
The grenade flew from his grip.
Chaos.
Do-hyun screamed.
Jin-ho rushed forward.
Min-jae shoved her back.
Boom.
A gunshot echoed.
Do-hyun collapsed.
Blood pooled beneath him.
Jin-ho lowered his gun.
Do-hyun gasped for air.
Struggled.
But the light in his eyes—
Faded.
Dead.
Silence followed.
The nightmare—over.
Min-jae turned to her, panting.
"You okay?"
She nodded.
Then—
His legs gave out.
Her heart stopped.
"Min-jae!"
She caught him before he hit the ground.
Blood soaked his side.
He'd been shot.
Tears blurred her vision.
"Stay with me, Min-jae. Please."
His eyes fluttered.
And then—
Darkness.
