OLIVIA STAFFORD
"That was so intense"
"what were you both talking about"
"I heard the king smells like blood?..."
"the both of you looked like a perfect couple"
God!
who is this chatterbox beside me.
i almost wailed.
I looked at Caelith, wondering why i hadn't noticed that she was such a talkative.
"Caelith...can you slow down a bit.. so that my brain can process everything" I said with an exasperated sigh.
she nodded, staring at me with wide eyes, the gossip brewing in those green orbs.
oh my God
"you better spill" she threatened.
I knew instantly that she wasn't house to talk no for an answer so I nodded my head firmly.
"but first of all, I need to have a drink, I am so tasty and my throat hurts from talking" I said, touching my throat.
Caelith held my on my shoulder and stared at me passionately
"I will get you a non-alcoholic wine ... don't move an inch" she warned.
the look in her eyes showed that she meant business so I nodded my head.
with a muster of good, she disappeared into the crowd, heading towards the buffet table.
I looked around the hall, admiring the crowd of beauties around, they were all gathered in cliques, discussing, I noticed some of them staring at me while talking in low tones.
ahh the dance with the king.
just then, I felt a chill on my chest.
"oh my God, I am so sorry" a maskless lady cried, trying to wipe my chest with her hanky.
I looked down and indeed, their was a large red stain on my clothes around the chest area, some had even spilled on my shoes and sleeves.
I narrowed my eyes and stared at her, not missing the knowing smirk on her lips.
she had done this on purpose.
"Why are you bullying Gladys, I thought she already apologized to you" another lady said, walking towards us
was this a set up, I frowned, folding my arms.
"Bully her?, she was the one that poured wine on my dress" I said with raised brows.
the lady who was called Gladys stood by the corner with lowered head, holding the hanky, her pink coloured eyes had tears brewing in them....but the smirk was still on her lips
what specie was she ..I wondered.
"I am sorry" she apologized again immediately she saw that I was looking at her.
"why are you apologizing to her Gladys, since it was a mistake, she is a lady and she should know to be generous..all noble ladies no matter the species know this" the lady said haughtily, staring at me like I was some lowly shrimp.
"Monica... you know she is a human. .she might not have received same teaching as us . .." Gladys said, from her words, she was trying to make excuses for me but at the same time...she was calling my uneducated..
that was actually the truth....i am uneducated
well then, I will show them the uneducated way of doing this.
I walked towards Gladys, a smile on my lips.
"You don't have to apologize anymore Gladys" I said, my hands brushing slowly on her the corset of her dress.
"Since you said it was a mistake then I will forgive you but don't do it next time" I cooed with a smirk, then with a gentle tug, I let the ropes of her corset come loose.
In the full view of everyone, the fabric fell down, revealing Gladys only in her white undergarments.
"Ahhh! you bitch!" Gladys screamed, all courtesy forgotten as she lunged at me.
But she was blocked by someone who splashed wine on her and held her back.
"You should better stay in your lane Succubus else you want to die"
it was Caelith.
I haven't heard her talk like this... so
serious and infuriated.
Gladys became quiet instantly, like cold water but she still glared at me angrily.
"are you okay?" Caelith asked and I flashed an assuring smile
"Elf princess, why make friends with people who are below your status?" Monica asked, moving closer.
I paused and stared at Caelith in surprise.
I thought she was just an ordinary elf, I didn't expect for her to have such a high status.
no wonder she is so knowledgeable.
"Monica dear...can you remind me again....what was your mother's position in your household ?" Caelith asked with a cold smile
"what are you talking about?..." Monica sputtered with wide eyes, moving back.
her actions were very suspicious.
Caelith smirked and moved towards her "Do you think you have the right to speak?, you who was born out of the consummation between a Slave and her master...you dare call someone lowly?"
there were dramatic gasps in the room as all the ladies stared at Monica.
Monica's eyes widened as she tried to deny it but no one was buying her stories.
all the other ladies shifted back, staring at her vigilantly.
No one wanted to associate with a slave.
A slave was worse than a scum, talk more of an illegitimate one.
Monica was ruined.
I shivered at that thought.
Caelith knows about Monica's status, does she also know about mine...
if yes, then why did she become my friend.
....
"I will go get you a napkin to clean your dress, no getting into trouble again" Caelith warned seriously and i nodded my head.
I watched her walk away before sighing.
I pulled off my mask, realizing that I was the only one who had probably being wearing mine in the Ball room.
"Quite an incident huh?"
that same deep voice.
I looked up, it was the same guy at tbe door, the one who had given me my mask.
"Good day" I greeted, knowing very well what he was talking about.
"I didn't know you had it in you, considering the fact that you look so meek and gentle" he said "I guess the famous saying on not to judge a book by its cover really is correct" he added, flashing me a dazzling smile.
The man was really handsome, especially those Black eyes...it suited him so well and he had this gentlemanly aura around him.
"Thank you " i was flattered
"But you need to do better if you actually was to survive in this palace, this place is horrible and even the king can't protect you at times" he said suddenly.
I raised my brows, wondering what he was talking about.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"You should leave... before it gets too late, I don't want to see another lady get hurt" he said and left.
What....?
