The air was thick with tension as Lemon and the others returned to their dorm. No one spoke. The image of Georgia's lifeless body was burned into their minds, another name added to the growing list of victims. The realization that the murderer was still out there, watching, waiting, sent chills down their spines.
Lemon stormed inside, her hands balled into fists. Her breathing was heavy, her mind racing with frustration and helplessness. Without thinking, she swung her fist at the wall, the impact sending a dull ache up her arm. Everyone flinched at the sudden aggression, but no one stopped her.
"Lemon…" Hazel hesitated, watching her friend with concern.
"This isn't just a mystery anymore," Lemon said through gritted teeth. "This is real. People are dying, and we're stuck here, doing nothing!"
Trying to calm herself, she grabbed her notebook from her desk. But as she flipped it open, something unusual caught her eye—a small slip of paper tucked between the pages. Her heart stopped.
Slowly, she pulled it out. The handwriting was unfamiliar, the message chilling:
Stop digging.
Her grip on the paper tightened. "What the hell…?"
Scarlett peered over her shoulder and gasped. "Someone was in here while we were gone."
Riley snatched the note and read it, her expression darkening. "So now we're getting threats? Great."
Evelyn paced the room. "Who could've done this? And how did they get in?"
Autumn was already checking the door, running her fingers along the lock. "There's no sign of forced entry."
Hazel shivered. "Which means whoever did this… has a key."
The thought sent waves of unease through them. Was it a student? A teacher? The murderer themselves?
Lemon's fury turned into determination. "We need to check the room. See if they left anything behind."
The girls sprang into action. They searched the drawers, the closet, even under the beds. But there was nothing. No footprints. No signs of disturbance. Just that single, ominous note.
Riley sighed, rubbing her temples. "This is insane. They're warning us to stop looking into this, but that just means we're getting close to something."
Evelyn folded her arms. "Or they're setting us up. Making us feel paranoid."
Scarlett frowned. "Either way, this means one thing. Someone doesn't want us to know the truth."
Lemon stared at the note, her fingers tracing the edges. "Well, too bad for them." Her voice was steady, but her eyes burned with determination. "Because we're not stopping."
Silence filled the room. Then, slowly, the others nodded.
Whoever was behind this had just made a mistake.
They had underestimated them.
