"Chapter 6" System Warning

After dispatching around 20 bandits, Xuan received a generous reward: 100 times the Experience Points, which propelled his cultivation from the 2nd level of the Qi Refinement stage to the 9th level Qi Refinement stage.

He obtained 1000 Spirit Stones and a randomly acquired Martial Skill, Blur Wind Steps. However, despite all of this, he was still like an ant compared to the Spirit Realm cultivators.

He watched intently as Ning Binglan, a Yin Qi cultivator, clashed with her opponent, a Yang Qi cultivator, in a spectacular display of contrasting energies.

One cultivator wielded the Extreme Fire cultivation technique, while the other employed the Extreme Ice cultivation technique. Astonishingly, they were evenly matched.

Meanwhile, Xuan thought to himself that if he could manage to take down a few more bandits, he might receive a valuable reward that could aid him in escaping this perilous situation.

However, there were no bandits left, and Xuan wasn't one to commit unjust murders. So, he began searching for alternative targets, such as bugs or small creatures, that he could eliminate to potentially earn a reward.

After scanning his surroundings, Xuan spotted a swarm of flies buzzing around the meat shop. "This will do," he thought, and with a swift manipulation of his Qi, he captured hundreds of flies, crushing them into a pulpy mess.

At the same time, the man felt increasingly overwhelmed as the Yin Qi, notoriously the nemesis of Yang Qi, continued to clash with his own energy.

The longer they fought, the more daunting the battle became for him.

"You've forced my hand," the man growled, retrieving an artifact resembling a flag. "Soul Ensnaring Banner, capture that woman!" The flag rapidly expanded, transforming into a massive banner that enveloped Ning Binglan.

Despite her fierce attacks, the banner seemed impenetrable, rendering her blows ineffective.

The man spat a mouthful of blood, but a cruel smile twisted on his face. "I was warned not to use this, but now I have no choice," he sneered.

"Die, woman! And soon, all of them will follow you." He burst into maniacal laughter, revelling in Ning Binglan's struggles as she tried to break free from the banner's grasp.

"Mother!" Ning Xi and Lei Yan exclaimed in unison; their worried expressions etched on their faces as they watched their mother struggle for her life.

They wanted to help, but were powerless to do so. Their desperate gazes then shifted to Ye Xuan, who was smiling as if lost in thought.

[System Notification]: You have eliminated hundreds of flies.

[Reward]: A one-time-use killing strike from an Energy Transmutation stage cultivator.

Ye Xuan couldn't help but smile, although he wasn't sure if this move would be enough to kill the man. However, he was confident it would at least injure him severely enough for Ning Binglan to deliver the final blow.

He retrieved the small lotus petal and simply pointed it at the man. In the next instant, the clouds above them thundered loudly, and the petal flew out of Xuan's hand.

As it soared through the air, it began to multiply, and the moment the man realized the attack was incoming, his body froze in terror.

"Swoop!"

The petals enveloped the man's entire body, and in the very next moment, they vanished, leaving behind the man's lifeless body, which rolled limply down from the sky, frozen in a permanent expression of shock.

His face contorted in a mix of horror and bewilderment as he took his last breath.

The flag he had been controlling suddenly stopped moving and released Ning Binglan, who stood there in shock, her eyes fixed on the man's lifeless body lying on the ground.

She descended from the sky and turned to her daughters, seeking an explanation, but they were staring at Xuan in shock.

Xuan himself looked stunned, though his expression was rooted in a different reason altogether.

[System]: Warning: Host can only receive a maximum of seven rewards per day. The system suggests that the host avoid unnecessary killings to optimize reward accumulation.

Xuan had never considered that there might be a limit to the reward system, but he breathed a sigh of relief nonetheless, grateful that he had obtained what he needed before reaching his daily limit.

Feeling eyes on him, Xuan rubbed the back of his head, attempting to appear nonchalant.

"It was something given to me by someone who told me to use it when my life would be in danger," he said casually. "I never thought it would be so powerful that it would take down that man in an instant."

Ning Bing approached the man's body, only to find that it didn't have a single visible injury. This discovery left her even more astonished.

"Whatever he used," she thought to herself, "I'm sure it was given to him by an Energy Transmutation stage cultivator or higher."

As a 7th-level Spiritual Awakening cultivator in the Spirit Realm, Ning Bing couldn't help but feel a sense of awe.

The man she had been fighting was an 8th-level Spiritual Awakening cultivator, yet he had been killed instantly. This could only mean that the attack that killed him was related to someone with a cultivation level even higher than theirs.

Her doubts were further dispelled when she saw that the man's body had no visible injuries.

It was a well-known fact that only cultivators who had surpassed the Energy Transmutation stage, reaching an even higher level of power, possessed the ability to kill without leaving any physical damage on their victim's body.

Ning Xi gulped as she gazed at Lei Yan, and whispered to her.

"Yan'er, if we had been determined to kill this man and he had used that attack on us... " She crossed her thumb over her neck, her eyes wide with a silent implication of the devastating consequences.

Lei Yan's face flushed with embarrassment and self-disappointment. In her mind, she couldn't shake off the thought that her one wrong decision could have put the lives of her sister and mother in danger.

Just as things were unfolding, the dead man's body suddenly began to melt away. In an instant, everything - including his clothes - dissolved into nothingness, leaving behind no trace.

Ye Xuan, Ning Xi, Lei Yan and even Ning Binglan, were stunned. Ning Binglan's eyes widened in shock, her mouth agape as she muttered, "Curse of Death..."
