Daniella's POV
It was around 1 am when I dropped Anna off to her house, and no, sleeping over was not an option. I definitely don't want to be on her dad's bad side, also I don't trust Anna sleeping in my house, G-d knows what that creep would do given such a chance.
Other than that and more importantly, it would be extremely risky and overall just a stupid idea and surprisingly enough, Anna seemed to be quite aware of it so there was really no insistence on her part, wasn't expecting that, I admit.
"Goodbye kiss?" She asks amusedly already inclining herself closer to me on her seat.
"More kisses?" I joke pushing her away.
"I told you already, it's never enough," she says taking my hand that was pushing her and inclining again with her lips puckered in an excessive manner. "Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!"
I simply roll my eyes and place a single chaste kiss on her lips. "Now get out."
"You know we'll not be able to be together as much in the following weeks, yet you refuse to give thy lover a proper farewell smooch," she says dramatically. "G-d forbid this might be our last kiss!"
"So be it," I say rolling my eyes again. "You're lucky you even got a kiss to begin with."
"Boo," she groans amusedly reaching up again, this time however I let her have it, the kiss isn't as passionate as the ones earlier but it's also nothing like the ones we've had before either. Anna is a good kisser, she's not hasty and apparently she doesn't like sloppy kisses, they're slow, almost innocent looking if I didn't know better, I'm typically not a person that enjoys kissing a lot but Anna clearly is and surprisingly I don't mind it as much, mainly because, as I said, her kisses are very controlled and paused. "See? Much better," she says pulling away with a smirk. Ah, the cockiness. "Well, then see you on Monday, miss Evans."
Before I can so much as beat her ass for saying my name like we're in some kind of cheap porn movie she runs out of the car and into her house, stupidly winking at me before closing the door.
"This girl," I groan.
I have no idea how all of this happened, one day I almost ran her over with my car and the next we're in some kind of secret relationship, the worst part is that Anna is not even the type of person I would normally date, far from it actually, yet here I am.
...
Anna was right when she said we wouldn't be able to see each other as much in the following weeks, graduation day was just around the corner and everyone is running against the clock to get things done before then.
I know Anna is not going to College but she still had a lot of tests to study for, surprisingly her grades are doing great and I even dare to say she might get a high B as her final Calculus grade. She's not dumb, just incredibly lazy.
Despite the rush, she would still meet me at detention from time to time, as to not make it suspicious of course, but there was this weird tension going on that we refused to acknowledge, the source obviously being the night we danced together after the Prom dance. I still don't know what to make of that, I know I like her more than I should but these feelings are still very strange to me.
"Distracted?" I hear Anna's voice as the last student leaves the classroom.
"Just thinking," I answer as she stands in front of my desk.
"About me?" She asks making me roll my eyes, she always says that and she's always right, I'm never going to admit that though.
"Shouldn't you be heading to your next class?" I ask trying to deviate the conversation.
"I should but I don't wanna," she groans amusedly. "I wanna go home."
"Stop whining, school's over in less than 10 days," I say making her groan again.
"That's worse, I'll miss my hot teacher," she smirks walking backwards to the door.
"Well, that's too bad."
"Can I see you later today?" She asks amusedly ignoring my remark.
"You'll show up even if I say no, now leave."
I hate to say I agree with Anna, I really want nothing but to be at home right now instead of having to sit through excited teenagers that think that just because summer vacation is just around the corner they don't have to do a thing anymore.
This day seemed to drag like no other and to make things worse, I received a message from my mom to meet her as soon as I possibly can at the hospital and she wouldn't tell me what was going on, so if possible the hours seemed to drag even more.
By the end of my last class, I was basically running to my car whilst sending Anna a message to let her know I wouldn't be attending detention today which she simply replied with a sad emoji face.
Upon arriving, before I could go up the elevator a nurse approached me with a sweet smile that I'm sure she gets paid for. "Mrs Evans is actually waiting for you in the garden, miss."
"Oh?" I say but don't wait for an answer, I simply walk past her and through the doors that lead to the garden.
I had to walk for a while before I come across a picnic mat set up under a big tree. My mom sat amusedly besides Ed on one side of the mat while Anna sat at the other end with a cheeky grin.
"Surprise," mom and Ed say in unison clapping their hands.
"I knew you were up to something," I eye her trying to look obnoxious but couldn't help the smile forming on my face. "And you," I lightly shove Anna as I settle beside her on the mat. "How dare you?"
"You have no idea of the extremes I went to control this big mouth, my brain was in a constant battle with my tongue," she says laughing as she sits back up. "Your face was priceless though, totally worth it."
"I hate you all," I roll my eyes. "I thought it was an emergency, don't you know what an invitation is?"
"I'm sorry I got you worried but it's more exciting to have the element of surprise," mom says sheepishly opening the picnic basket and handing me a sandwich.
"The element of surprise you say," I groan eyeing Anna as she devours her own sandwich. "I have a feeling this was your idea."
"And you're absolutely right," she says proudly. "It's a double date!"
"With my mom."
"With your mom, yes."
Despite the awkwardness, it went actually pretty okay and I'm only saying this because I haven't seen my mom this happy in a while.
After a while, mom and Ed said their goodbyes with the excuse that they were too old to stay seated on the ground for too long but I'm pretty sure by the mischievous smile on my mom's face that she wanted us to be alone together.
For a while, we just laid down on the mat looking at the sun setting on the horizon in a comfortable silence until Anna broke it with one of her stupid jokes.
"Do you know what one boat said to the other boat?" I simply roll my eyes as she looks at me with a smirk. "Are you interested in a little row-mance?"
"Totally did not see that coming," I say sarcastically as she laughs at her own joke.
"Are you though?"
"In a little row-mance?" I say pretending to think it over. "No, you completely ruined the moment."
"Oh, the moment?" She asks wiggling her eyebrows but before I could hit her with one of my heels a nurse came over telling us to leave because they were about to close the garden. "Well, that's unfortunate."
"You should be glad, she saved you," I say helping her take the picnic stuff to my car.
"That's true, ma'am that's a murder weapon you got there, that should be illegal."
"Your jokes should be illegal."
"You say that even though you laugh at them every time, now miss Evans, lying is bad," she says with a stupid grin as she sits beside me on the car.
"Shut up or I'll make you walk."
"You would never."
"You know I would, Anna."
"Yet you can't admit you actually like my jokes, oy oy," she says amusedly shaking her head.
"So you can get even cockier?" I roll my eyes as I park my car in front of her house.
"Well, you just admitted it," she smirks reaching up to me and placing a single kiss on my lips.
"See? Cockier indeed," I say slapping away her hand that is groping my thighs. "Don't you get all horny teenager on me."
"Oh, of course, can't forget that sex is after marriage," she jokes reaching up again for another quick kiss. "Before I forget, graduation day is next week already so... You didn't forget my wish did you?"
"No, I didn't forget."
"So... Won't you meet me up at your classroom after the ceremony?"
"Are you still going to formally ask me out?" I ask not containing a laugh.
"Of course I am, I'm a gentlewoman."
"What, are you also going to ask my mom for permission?"
"I already did that," she says smirking.
"Unbelievable." I shake my head. "Actually, coming from you, it's very believable."
"That's my best attribute," she says opening the car door. "I'll see you then."
One last kiss and she's gone.
So much for the promise of not kissing and touching, I still can't believe I'm doing this but now I can't back out... I don't want to back out.
