"Any luck with your job hunting?" Daniella says as she types frantically on her laptop.
"Not really, what about your school hunting?" I answer, just slightly raising my head so I could look at her from the other side of the sofa.
"I sent an application to the school I refused last summer, the Catholic one and some others," she groans. "Stop being a lazy ass, you have been laid out on that sofa all afternoon."
"I'm tired, I walked all day," I say sitting up. "It's not my fault your sofa is super comfy."
"So you only came here to lay on my sofa?" She asks amusedly.
"I came here to see you and lay on your sofa," I smirk. "You could be a sweetheart and lay with me, but you rather finger kill that keyboard."
"Let me just finish this."
"The Catholic school huh," I think out loud as I lay back on the couch. "I don't think they'll be happy to know you're dating a woman."
"You shouldn't judge," she says mindlessly as she continues to practice the horrendous act of torture on those keys. I feel especially sorry for that space bar. "Besides that, what I do privately is none of their business."
"I want to go on dates with you tho."
"We have had dates, Anna, and we'll keep on having them," she says glancing over at me. "Just not in a very conventional way."
"Fair enough, but when will you let me sleep over?" I sit up again scooting closer to her. She rolls her eyes and goes back to killing the half-dead keyboard. "I promise I'll behave, ma'am."
"Stop talking like that," she says squinting her eyes at me.
"I'm trying to seduce you."
"You're not seducing me with cheap porn lines, Anna."
"Oh, so you know how cheap porn lines sound like?" I smirk.
"Do you think I was born this age?"
"Sometimes? You never talk about your childhood. Also, you're not denying it."
"My childhood was not that interesting," she says, putting her laptop aside and scooting closer to me so we could cuddle. "My dad was very overprotective."
"That's nice, I don't have enough fingers to count how many times my dad forgot me at school," I chuckle. "I'm counting with my toes too," I say as I wiggle them.
"Your dad is overprotective of you too, in his own way," she chuckles as well, running her fingers down my hair.
"I know, he equipped me with pepper spray since I was 13, which is illegal and he's a lawyer."
"I didn't mean it that way, that's just crazy," she laughs shaking her head. "I wouldn't trust you with that, not even now."
"Good news is, I've never had to use it before, not even on Pedo Nicholls," I say wiggling my eyebrows. "Perks of being a hard head is that my head is actually pretty hard."
"You were lucky, Anna, I don't even want to think about it," she groans holding me slightly harder. Daniella still doesn't know about the plan, I'm pretty sure she would kill me if she knew. Now thinking about it, yeah it was pretty dumb, but look, everything turned out ok. "I was so worried."
"At least it made you realise how much you care for me."
"I already knew that, I guess I just didn't want to admit it to you," she says caressing my face. "It did make me realise I could have lost you for good," she whispers as she places a tender kiss on my forehead.
We spent the rest of the evening cuddling, and I was able to convince her to let me sleep over. I just needed to use the right cards, if you know what I mean.
It's the first time I'm sleeping a full night on her bed, and I may or may not be a little too excited.
"Here, a t-shirt, shorts and panties, they might be a little too big for you though."
"That's fine, I'll not be needing those," I smirk at her from the bed.
"Go shower, Anna," she says amusedly, rolling her eyes.
"A kiss first please," I say puckering my lips at her.
She gives me a single kiss on the lips before leaving to the kitchen. It's also the first time I'll be eating Daniella's fully home cooked food.
I was just about to get up to the bathroom when something catches my eye, the plushie I gave to Daniella is no longer on her bedside table but on the shelf. Just next to a picture she had of her mom and I'm guessing her dad.
I unconsciously walk up to it and that's when I notice the piece of paper laying under the plushie. I'm pretty sure it's the one I handed her after the graduation ceremony, the one where I asked if she would be my girlfriend.
I reached for it, I'm still curious to see how she marked it, but the sound of footsteps down the hall stops me just before I could pick it up.
Instead I pick up the clothes and go to the bathroom, I don't want Daniella thinking I'm snooping around, that would be embarrassing.
She stops by the bathroom door just as I was taking my shirt off. "You're such a slow ass," she says jokingly but I could see her eyes traveling down my body.
"Yeah, I think I might need some help taking these off," I smirk. "To help me shower too."
Daniella tried to play it cool but there was definitely excitement behind those eyes.
"Let me turn off the stove first," she says clearing her throat and quickly going downstairs.
We might have taken way too much time in the bathroom, and later in the bedroom, we actually ended up only eating dinner at 10pm. Daniella's food is delicious, but I already knew that, she did save my taco disaster.
The next day I was ready to continue with my job hunting, I'm not going to lie, I didn't expect it to be this hard. Don't get me wrong there's plenty of work positions in bars, but I'd rather not have to work in a place where I'd get constant harassment by perverts.
I also want a day job, not a night one. Just so I can have a similar schedule to Daniela's.
"How's it going?" I ask Soph as I lean on the counter, she was busy arranging a bouquet of flowers she didn't even notice me coming in.
Soph's mom is a florist and owns a small shop in the City Centre, Soph and I used to help her in the summer when we were kids for some extra candy money. Unfortunately, because it's a small shop I don't think she would need two full-time assistants.
"Don't scare me B, I'm doing important stuff here," Soph groans after letting some of the flowers she was holding fall to the ground. "It's going good, I'm getting the hang of it. What about you? No luck?"
"I left my number at a few shops, but most of them are only looking for people for the summer," I say rolling my eyes.
"Look, ever since I started working here my mom completely left the shop in my hands, she's out there living her life with zero intentions of coming back," she says as she sets the flowers aside. "I could use some help."
"Are you hiring me?" I chuckle at her excitement.
"Mi shop is tu shop. I'll talk to my mom, she loves you more than she loves me, she'll say yes right away. I'm pretty sure she'd fire me to put you here."
"To be fair, I was a better worker than you when we used to spend the summers here," I joke as she rolls her eyes amusedly.
Soph didn't waste any time, she called Ms Abebe right away and to my surprise she did say yes right away too, well Soph was also very dramatic about my no job situation. So technically Soph is now my boss.
I guess I'm a florist now.
Soph spent the rest of the day showing me what to do, some stuff has changed since I last helped here, we also didn't do a lot of the important work so there was a lot of stuff I still had to learn.
And the best part, my very own pink flowery apron.
"You're a real one, Soph," I say as we were cleaning the shop for the day. We didn't get a lot of customers today, which I'm grateful for so Soph could help me get the hang of it.
"Don't mention it, I'm super excited we're working together," she says wiggling her eyebrows. "Also, we're already professional florists, we were born for this shit."
Oh yeah, this is definitely going to be a lot of fun.
