CHAPTER 10
ALFRED POV
I stood quietly at the door listening to her speak to Simone, I felt a pang of jealousy as she spoke freely to Marcus's mate, I shook it off instantly, choosing only to listen to her worries and what she said, broke my heart.
"It's just that, I'm not comfortable with this mate thing, I know that this bond is crucial for us wolves but I have doubts right now for this is all new to me. I am a virgin you see? And all my life, I haven't experience any form of male affection…well, except Josh, who is my best friend and all of a sudden, two men wants me."
The hell! She didn't just say that!
I stood still as shock engulfed me and I held my breath even more as I tried to decipher this situation….Ok, it's understandable that she is a virgin, I wasn't surprised for I sensed her innocence earlier, but she not believing in the mate bond and two men wants her?
Me and who? I feel things are deeper than how it appears to be. But I want nothing other than her love, her affection and apparently, her acceptance. I have to make her trust me. Then I heard Simeon encouraging her about me, telling her that I'm a nice guy, I smiled.
Then all of a sudden, I heard her say that she has stuff about me that she needs to gist my mate….crazy stuff….it was then I knew I couldn't stay there quietly any longer.
Simone has overstayed her welcome.
"A lot? Simone really?" I said still standing at the doorway and I watched as they both turned and stared at me with eyes widened with shock.
"Alfred" she chipped, smiling coyly.
You little devil!
"Hanni ought to be asleep Simone" I said to her, not waiting for her reply, I turned to Hanni and asked, "Did you get any sleep?"
"No, I couldn't sleep and I am so grateful Simone stopped by" she replied and smiled at Simone, who smiled back.
"I was leaving anyway" Simone said to me and turned to Hanni and said, " I will come check on you tomorrow, if that's ok."
"That will be nice Simone" Hanni replied and waved her goodnight.
I watched the two ladies in silence and wondered how they got so close so quickly and raised my chin with the hope that it will be the same for me too, but it was shattered into tiny bits when she passed me and laid on the bed, pulling the covers over her body without a word or a glance at my direction.
And then I couldn't take it no more…..but first, she needs to rest. We will continue in the morning.
I moved towards the sofa, to try and get some sleep also and I then noticed that it wasn't designed for sleeping so I was torn immediately to choose between the uncomfortable sofa or to sleep in another chambers.
I turned to see her staring at me intently and I smiled…I choose the sofa….but then she said "You can come join me, this bed is big enough for 8 people."
The offer was enticing, but I don't want to startle her in anyway or make her uncomfortable here, so I shook my head and sat down on the sofa.
"Thank you sweetling, but I'm comfortable here" I lied.
She smiled and my heart melted for she has the most beautiful smile.
We laid in silence, facing each other, on the bed and the sofa. We kept our eyes locked in and I watched as she yawned multiple times and slowly drifted to sleep.

"Alfred?"
I jerked awake and I saw her standing so close to me, her face inches away from mine. I became dazed staring at her full lips, wondering when I could kiss her, but first, she needs to be comfortable with me, I keep reminding myself and most importantly, Geo, who have been silent since last night. I closed my eyes and took deep breaths to calm my morning erection and I cupped my palm around my member to prevent her from seeing it, not to set her running for the hills.
Hmmm….A virgin…this will be one hell of a ride!
"Sweetling" I croaked, managing to sit up on the sofa and stretch, flexing my aching muscles.
I looked up to see her turning away quickly, with her cheeks flushed and I smiled.
Bad girl.
"Hmmm…sorry for waking you up, but there is a man outside, he requires an audience and he said it's urgent." She said with her head bowed.
I sprang up immediately, eradicating any trace of sleep still left in my eyes and I opened the door to see Andre, looking serious as ever. My heart skipped a beat for I knew what was coming. I opened the door wide, ushering him in, took a deep breath and turned to face him with my Alpha mask placed back on.
"Beta" I greeted him curtly.
"Alpha" he nodded back, adjusting the rims of his glasses.
I turned to Hanni and smiled, "sweetling, why don't you go down for breakfast? The dinning hall is in the second floor."
She gave a small nod and left.
Certain we were alone, I turned to my beta and gestured him to speak.
"Alpha, I just received a bad news. A messenger was sent to me this morning, bringing news of more poison cases" he said, then he closes his eyes and sighed, "it's spreading now in the low lands, with twenty wolves lying in care wards, poisoned."
"Shit!" I swore with my eyes red with anger.
"Alpha, that's not the worst news yet" he said hurriedly and not waiting for a reply, he continued "the low land community have gotten wind of the situation….the poison…the deaths and we being unable to pinpoint the cause of this incident, has created panic and the lowland community is currently is disarray."
