The hallway was filled with whispers and stares as Logan Hayes walked in like he owned the place. One of his friends said something funny, making him let out a light-hearted chuckle, and the females in the hall were practically drooling.
The rumors about him and Harper had already spread like wildfire, and he knew these whispers were about that.
But Logan Hayes didn't care.
He didn't care what they thought because his reputation remained untouched. Everyone knew Logan could have any girl he wanted.
Harper, though? She was in a different situation. Unlike the gossip suggested, not all of it was true. Yes, she had ended up in his bed. But no, nothing had happened.
On the plus side for her, he had made her popular, right?
"Bro, seriously? Harper Reed?" Kennedy scoffed, and Logan smirked.
"As I already said, it was a mistake. She was drunk, and I just decided to help. That's all." Logan's smirk still played at the corners of his kissable lips.
"Aight, aight, bro. If you say so. So what are you gonna do?" Kennedy asked.
Although he didn't really care, he was curious about what Logan planned to do about the innocent dean's daughter.
"Who?" Eric, one of Logan's friends, asked sarcastically. "As if you don't know Logan anymore, huh?" He nudged Logan, who smiled.
Eric was right.
It's not like he cared. He just found the whole situation… intriguing.
"So?" Kennedy turned to Logan, raising an eyebrow.
"So what?" Logan said, and the three guys exploded into laughter, their deep chuckles filling the hallway.
Then—
Eric stiffened, nudging them.
The hallway quieted as everyone turned to stare at Hazel. She always knew how to make an entrance.
Her short, curly brown hair, styled in a cute side-swept fashion with clips on one side, framed her face perfectly. She wore a short blue skirt with a crop top, her handbag swinging with each confident step. Her brown eyes, framed by long, thick lashes, locked onto Logan intensely.
Behind her were her minions.
Unidentical twins.
Alexa and Alexis.
A blonde and a brunette, both dressed in identical skirts, trailing behind Hazel like shadows.
The three of them stopped in front of Logan and his friends.
"Hi, Kenny." Hazel's voice was smooth as she glanced at Kennedy. "Hello, Eric," she greeted, her brown eyes briefly flicking to him. Then, with a faint but knowing smile, she turned to Logan. "Hola, Logan."
"Hi," Kennedy and Eric replied in unison.
"Hi." Logan's response was quiet.
"Pretty hot rumors, huh?" Hazel said, her gaze unwavering.
"Yeah," Logan replied.
"Is it true?" Hazel's voice was soft, yet laced with something sharp. "Logan, even if you say it is, I wouldn't believe you. Because I know you still love me. You belong to me, Logan. We can't deny the attraction between us."
Logan tilted his head. "What do they say? There's no smoke without fire, right?"
Hazel's eyes widened. "So it's true?! You chose the dean's daughter over me?!" She scoffed, her voice laced with disbelief. "I can't believe this. It's pathetic. Why, Logan? Can't you see? I'm the only one created for you. We're meant to be."
"Says the girl who publicly dumped the Logan Hayes," Logan said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
"I did not dump you, Logan. I told you—I needed a break. But now," she stepped closer, her manicured fingers tracing his jawline as she took in his features, "I think that break is over."
Logan's expression didn't waver. "What do you think of me, Hazel?" His voice had shifted—colder now, sharper.
In one smooth movement, Logan grabbed her wrist and yanked her hand away from his face.
"That I'm someone you can leave and come back to whenever you want? That I'm a fool?"
His voice deepened, a quiet intensity bleeding into his tone.
Hazel's heartbeat quickened. She took two steps back and forced a smile.
"Right. I hope you come back to your senses," she murmured.
"I already am in my senses," Logan said flatly.
With a tight frown, Hazel turned on her heel and walked away.
"Bye," Alexa and Alexis said in unison before following her.
"Looks like someone's over the campus hottie," Kennedy teased.
"I always was," Logan replied, his smirk never fading.
