Harper Reed felt her face on fire even after he had left. It had been five minutes, and she still couldn't stop blushing wildly.
Did he see her blush?
He was driving her crazy. That perfect face, perfect physique, green eyes that she feels lost in, his devilish smirks, cocky smiles, slight chuckles, great sense of humor, good vibes, and how she feels tiny around him due to his tallness.
He had some serious effect on her. That was for sure. The question was, why did he? Could it be that she actually liked him?
No!
She shook her head.
She wouldn't let herself believe that. How could she possibly like a guy like him? He was a campus bad boy. The kind her father had warned her about.
They were fake dating. Fake.
It was all just a cover. A game.
But still…
Could she actually… fall for him?
Her heart thumped faster at the thought, and she shook her head quickly, laughing under her breath.
"No. Nope. Absolutely not," she muttered to herself.
But her smile… lingered longer than it should've.
"There you are!" Tyla's voice snapped her out of her silly trance. Silly—yes, that's what she should call it.
Harper Reed couldn't fall for a bad boy.
She turned to see Tyla running toward her, that bright smile gracing her plump lips.
Once Tyla was in front of her, she just gave her a wink and plopped her butt next to Harper.
"Was searching for you in the library. Why aren't you going there anymore?" Tyla teased.
"Of course I would! I'll not abandon my home because of some idiot. Tyla, can you believe I bumped into him a few minutes after you left?!" Harper spoke, and Tyla sighed, clearly knowing it was the beginning of Harper ranting about how much she hated Damian Blackwood for what he did at the library.
"Harper, please just relax, okay? Breathe in," Tyla said.
"Okay, fine. Why were you looking for me though?" Harper asked.
"Well, because I was lonely. But not just that, I saw this..." Tyla pulled out her phone and fidgeted with it before opening a picture of Harper and Logan looking like they were kissing.
The caption was: It's not debatable, these two are dating!!
Harper's eyes widened in shock, her heart racing.
"WTF!"
"What? You didn't kiss?" Tyla asked, looking ashamed.
"Of course not! Geez!"
Later that evening...
Logan lay stretched out on his bed, one hand behind his head, the other holding his phone above his face.
The ceiling fan hummed lazily above him, but his focus wasn't on that.
It was on her.
Harper Reed.
His so-called "fake girlfriend"… who was making it very hard for him to remember what fake was supposed to feel like.
He replayed the courtyard moment in his head—how her breath caught, how her eyes widened, how she froze like he was short-circuiting her entire nervous system.
The way her lip parted, how she combined looking pretty, sexy, and hot at the same time, that smile of hers that just illuminated her beauty, her amber eyes, her stubborn character, and how she made him forget all his troubles just by being around.
Logan grinned at the memory of her, shaking his head.
"Stubborn Princess," he murmured.
His thumb hovered over his phone screen for a second before he finally opened their chat.
No overthinking.
He quickly typed:
Mind if we go out, Princess.
He hit send before he could chicken out.
Phone down.
Now...
He waited.
And suddenly waiting felt like the hardest part.
