"It's alright," Max said at last, his voice calm despite the tight knot in his chest. "I think I've got enough mana to handle it."
Max's spirits had just started to lift. For the first time since the disaster, he finally had a solution. His mana was sufficient. Ray had enough paper to wallpaper the entire continent. This was happening.
"Ray, bring the paper," Max said, ready to get started.
But then, as always, the voice of doom.
"Wait."
Alina's sharp tone cut through his excitement like a blade.
Max closed his eyes for a moment. Of course. Of course she has something to say.
"Do you even know any spell," she said slowly, "that can shape paper into the structure of rooms, dorms, walls something stable and livable?"
Max opened his mouth to retort. His brain was already firing up a sarcastic response. But… then he paused.
Wait.
That's a good point.
