Chapter 14: Trial by Combat

The System's voice echoed in my mind, "Kae, it's time for your next trial. You'll be facing a series of opponents in combat. Your goal is to emerge victorious."

I steeled myself, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. The first opponent appeared before me, a towering figure with skin like dark marble and eyes that burned with an inner fire.

The battle was intense, with both of us exchanging blows and testing each other's limits. I summoned waves of flame and blasts of air, but my opponent countered with dark energy and shadowy illusions.

As the fight raged on, I began to feel a sense of fatigue. My opponent was relentless, pushing me to my limits. But I refused to give up.

I gritted my teeth, summoning every last ounce of strength. I unleashed a devastating blast of flame, striking my opponent with incredible force.

The opponent stumbled back, its eyes widening in surprise. I took advantage of the momentary distraction, striking with a swift kick.

My opponent crashed to the ground, defeated. I stood over it, panting heavily. The System's voice congratulated me, "Kae, you've won your second battle. Remember to stay focused and adapt to new situations."

I nodded, feeling a sense of pride and accomplishment. I had taken another step on the path to becoming a true warrior.
