The Journey Begins

Chapter 1: The Journey Begins

The morning sun bathed Twinleaf Town in a golden glow as the gentle rustling of leaves filled the air. It was a peaceful place, surrounded by lush forests and a quiet lake, where the only disturbances came from the occasional cries of wild Pokémon. But today, Twinleaf was anything but quiet.

Inside a cozy house near the edge of town, a young trainer was preparing for the most important day of his life.

"Kairo! Hurry up! You don't want to be late!" his mother's voice called from the kitchen.

Kairo stood in front of his mirror, adjusting his black and red jacket. His messy dark hair and sharp blue eyes reflected a mixture of excitement and determination. He had been waiting for this day for years—the day he would finally receive his first Pokémon and begin his journey to become the Champion of Sinnoh.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm coming," Kairo muttered, grabbing his backpack and rushing downstairs.

His mother smiled as she placed a plate of food on the table. "You're really doing it, huh? My little boy, heading out to conquer the Pokémon League…"

Kairo grinned, his eyes filled with ambition. "Not just the League. I'm going to defeat Cynthia and then challenge Ash Ketchum. I'll be the strongest trainer in the world!"

His mother chuckled, shaking her head. "Well, if anyone can do it, it's you. Just make sure you don't skip meals while you're out there."

Kairo laughed before scarfing down his breakfast. He could hardly sit still—he was too eager to meet Professor Rowan and receive his first Pokémon. After a quick goodbye, he bolted out the door, heading straight for Sandgem Town.

The First Pokémon

After a short journey, Kairo arrived at Professor Rowan's Lab, where three Poké Balls were displayed on a sleek metal table. The professor, a tall man with a stern expression, observed Kairo carefully.

"Young man, becoming a Pokémon Trainer is not just about strength. It is about responsibility and understanding your Pokémon," Rowan stated firmly.

Kairo nodded. "I understand, Professor. I'll train harder than anyone else and become the best!"

The professor gave a small smile before gesturing toward the Poké Balls. "Then choose your partner."

Kairo's eyes scanned the choices: Turtwig, Piplup, and Chimchar. Without hesitation, he grabbed the Poké Ball in the center.

"I choose Chimchar!"

In a flash of light, the small Fire-type monkey appeared, its tail flame flickering with energy. Chimchar looked up at Kairo and grinned, clearly eager for battle.

"Chimchar, huh?" Rowan nodded approvingly. "A strong and agile Pokémon. You've made a good choice."

As Kairo knelt down, Chimchar jumped onto his shoulder, instantly bonding with his new trainer. Kairo smirked. "We're gonna take on the whole world together, buddy."

A Mysterious Mentor

As Kairo left Sandgem Town, excited to begin his journey, he suddenly noticed a figure standing under a tree, watching him. The man wore a red cap and a long coat, his eyes hidden beneath the brim. He didn't say a word, but Kairo recognized him immediately.

It was Red—the legendary trainer from Kanto, the strongest battler in history before Ash Ketchum.

Kairo felt his heart race. "Wait… are you Red?"

Red didn't answer, simply nodding once. He studied Kairo for a moment before tossing a Poké Ball into the air. A Pikachu landed gracefully in front of him, sparks crackling from its cheeks.

"You… want to battle me?" Kairo asked, barely believing what was happening.

Red nodded again.

Kairo clenched his fists, fire burning in his eyes. "Alright, let's do this! Chimchar, let's go!"

The battle was over in seconds. Red's Pikachu moved faster than anything Kairo had ever seen, dodging Chimchar's attacks with ease before knocking him out with a single Thunderbolt.

Kairo fell to his knees, staring in shock. He had just been completely overwhelmed.

Red walked up to him and, for the first time, spoke. "You have potential."

Kairo looked up, stunned. Red extended a small notebook—filled with battle strategies, training techniques, and notes on Pokémon types.

"If you want to be the best… train harder," Red said simply before walking away.

Kairo tightened his grip on the notebook. He had lost, but he wasn't discouraged. Instead, his determination burned hotter than ever.

"I'll get stronger… And one day, I'll beat even you, Red," Kairo muttered.

With renewed resolve, he turned toward his next destination—Oreburgh City and his first Gym Battle.

His journey had just begun.
