The girl looked 18, perhaps she was even younger, based on her school uniform. It was difficult to tell who was an adult just based on looks.
As for the three guys, all of them were in their twenties. One man grabbed her hands, forcing her against the wall, while the other pinned her legs. The last guy was leisurely watching them with disinterest through the camera.
Either they didn't notice him, or they didn't care enough. That's when Jack kicked an empty can of soda, hitting one guy in the head.
He turned around, glaring at Jack. The other guy noticed him too and turned around, only the camera man ignored him.
"Look, I don't care if you're filming amateur stuff or if it's just you hobby," Jack said, pointing at the food truck. "but for heaven's sake, take it somewhere else or you'll ruin everyone's appetite."
The guys looked at the cameraman, who waved dismissively at them. One guy smiled and headed towards Jack, cracking his knuckles.
"You should take a hike and get lost," he said. "I don't want my hands to get dirty before the shoot—"
The man's words were cut short as Jack's fist met his face. The punch turned the man's face at a 135 degree angle before he collapsed on the ground, unconscious.
The punch made the other two stare at Jack blankly. They didn't think Jack would strike them without exchanging words. It then donned on them that Jack had no intention of being a good samaritan, he was there just to cause trouble for the sake of it.
The second guy left the woman and rushed at Jack, who brought his fists up to block the punch. The man threw another punch at him, but Jack crouched under and punched the guy straight into the liver.
The man winced in pain, but raised his hand to hit Jack again. That's when the pain flared up. It was the delayed pain from getting a liver shot.
The man dropped to his knees, clutching his side, gasping for breath before blacking out from intense pain.
Whoa… I didn't expect Super Hook to be this super. Gotta be careful before I accidentally kill someone with this.
"Tsk, useless pricks," the cameraman sighed. "They had one job and they couldn't even do that properly."
The man still ignored Jack and turned to the girl.
"Do think about running, or I'll chop off your legs."
Jack had heard many threats, but something about the man told him that the man meant it. Even the girl thought the same as her legs turned into jelly and she collapsed on the ground.
Finally, the man turned his attention to Jack, sizing him up. Then he smiled, as if he found something in him.
"You don't look half bad," the man said, scratching his chin. "How about you finish what they started? I'll pay you generously."
The girl shrank in fear when the man pointed at her. However, Jack looked disgusted and shook his head.
"Oh, I see. You're a reserved guy," the man winked. "Don't worry, she's legal in Japan, haha—!"
The man's laughter was cut short as Jack kicked him in the chest. Surprisingly, despite his skinny appearance, the man didn't budge. He just wiped the dust off his shirt before glaring at Jack.
"Tsk, that's the problem with guys like you," he mumbled. "You don't think of the consequences before acting up."
The next second, the man pulled out a gun from behind, pointing it at Jack's head. Just like that, all of Jack's bravado faded away. He only wanted to test his skills and had no intention of losing his life while doing it.
Fuck the girl, fuck his honor, fuck his pride.
In front of a gun, none of it mattered.
The man laughed, watching the color fade from Jack's face.
"What happened to you now?" he smirked. "Go ahead, kick—"
Before the man could complete what he was saying, something buzzed past Jack's ear. A moment later, the man began shaking violently, and it looked like his entire body had cramped at once.
Two wires were buried in the man's chest. Jack turned to see Angela standing there, holding her taser. She didn't spare him a glance and rushed to the man's side, kicking the gun away.
The man tried to get up, but Angela put her full weight on his back, rendering even the slightest of movements cause unbearable pain.
Without delay, she snapped her cuffs on the man before calling for backup. All this while, she didn't look at Jack once, nor did she say anything to him.
She's been following me?
That was the only reason he could come up with. After all, he was nowhere close to the station and cops barely visited this place, as it was clear from those bastards' fearless behavior.
How else would Angela appear in the nick of time if she wasn't following him around?
As Angela went to check on the girl, Jack's eyes fell on the two people he had knocked out. He realized he could get arrested for it and decided to get away before Angela arrested him for the third time.
He got away twice and wasn't keen on trying his luck a third time.
But of course, it wasn't so easy.
"Stop!" Angela yelled.
Jack clicked his tongue before turning around. Before he knew it, she punched him in the chest.
"What the hell were you thinking, idiot!?" she yelled, hitting him again. "If you see a crime happening, you're supposed to report it, not jump in without thinking of the consequences!"
Jack was stunned into silence. He didn't expect such a reaction from her after their quarrel earlier. It felt as if she actually cared for him, but Jack wasn't fooled.
Angela was unpredictable. It was likely she was doing it to get close to him, to learn more about those people who saved him at the station.
In that case, I shouldn't feel bad about using her as well.
Whether it was an act didn't bother Jack as he hugged Angela back, whispering his thanks. She wanted to use him and he wanted to use her, so wasn't it a mutually beneficial relationship?
