the penthouse

~kyara's POV ~

Upon arriving at the penthouse, a sense of anticipation coursed through me as I realized it was an hour's journey to the meeting place for the deal. The plan was for them to trickle in gradually, one by one, after two hours of my arrival at the deal location. The only ones allowed to accompany me were Luther and Kyra. A frown creased my brow as I thought about her; I hoped her dance would be captivating enough to distract Lorway's men.

"Boss, your room is ready," Luther announced, his tone steadfast and reassuring.

"Thank you, Luther," I replied, feeling the day's exhaustion weigh on me like a heavy cloak. I made my way to the bathroom, craving the refreshing feel of water on my skin. As I stepped inside, I found Kyra standing under the cascade of warm water, her back turned to me. I couldn't help but linger for a moment, captivated by the way the water glided over her soft, curvaceous form.

Drawn by an impulsive instinct, I stepped closer and gently touched her shoulder. She flinched slightly but didn't scream. It seemed she recognized my presence without needing to see my face.

"Princess, it seems you're starting to get used to me, aren't you?" I teased, trying to lighten the mood. She remained silent, shaking her head gently, her eyes still cast downward. At least she was quiet…

After a moment, I brushed past her, taking my time to wash away the remnants of the day. Once I finished and stepped out of the shower, I wrapped myself in a soft night robe before heading to bed, feeling the comfort of the fabric against my skin. Tomorrow promised to be long and demanding.

A few minutes later, Kyra joined me, lying down beside me in silence—an unusual stillness that was unlike her vibrant personality. But perhaps this change was a sign that she was learning to adapt, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction in that.
