my mistake nearly cost me my life!

In the haze of my own triumphant thoughts, I was unaware of the moment when the boss snatched the drink from Liam's hand and gulped it down in one swift motion. He muttered something about business acquaintances drinking each other's drink.A knot of dread tightened in my stomach. No, no, no! This isn't what I wanted.

"Umm… Liam, we've got to go; my stomach is in knots," I pleaded, the urgency in my voice barely masking my fear.

"Hmm, princess? It's really none of my concern," he replied casually, dismissing my worry as he gestured for me to sit back down.

Why did I even bother? I should just leave. I started toward the door, but the men blocking my path were like granite statues, unwavering and unyielding, not allowing me to escape without Liam. "God, please, wherever you are, help me." The drug would take effect in just five minutes—what was I supposed to do? Should I feign fainting? Bursting into tears? If only that madman would listen to my frantic warnings.

"I feel sort of dizzy."

When those words pierced the tension in the room, it felt as if time itself had come to a standstill. In slow motion, I watched the boss collapse to the floor. The men around us, confused and panicked, drew their guns, I stood frozen as a shot rang out, the bullet slicing through the air with deadly precision, aimed straight at me. Fear paralyzed my limbs—was this really the end?
