The next morning, before the sun could completely arise, I stood near the area of the goblin's base, spectating it from a distance.
I brought a sword with me, the one that Rowan gave, and a bow along with fifteen arrows in my quiver.
This time, the arrows were not made by me, but Rowan. He prepared quite a lot of these, having metal points and bamboo shafts.
'Well, I've got to admit they were much better than the ones I made.'
He also gave me two paper talisman inscribed with 'Fast' spell, just in case of some emergency.
Talismans are one-time use items.
Some of them are quite common like my 'Fast Talisman' which doubles one's speed for a short duration of time while some others are extremely hard to come by.
But be it a common or a rare talisman, one thing is certain that they all cost quite a fortune.
I already thought of many ways and formulated many plans as how I'd proceed with today's task.
I scanned the area thoroughly and noted the position of every goblin I was able to sense.
'More than thirty. If I'm correct, there's around thirty four of them. And the boss... it's most probably a Shaman. It might give me some trouble.'
I did study about various monsters and their weaknesses back in Elysium. And since the goblins were one of the most common monsters, I knew quite a lot about them.
'They're very sly and always act in big groups. But if they face someone stronger than them, they become flustered and just rely on their instincts. If that happens, they're as easy as killing some wild beasts with no intelligence.'
'Heh... They are quite similar to us in this aspect.'
They're also not that fast, so with my high agility, hopefully they won't pose too much of a problem.
The plan was simple. I need to reduce their number and overwhelm them with my speed. Once they started acting on their instincts, it should be an easy fight. The only was thing I was worried about was the Goblin Shaman.
Moreover, thirty-four goblins were quite a large number. For a Level 12, it's close to an impossible feat.
But I already know Mana Borrow and all my passives are ridiculously good. 'Memories of Silence' alone makes up for my low level. I also have my stats which are much higher than someone belonging to Level 12.
For me, this was not impossible.
'I should start the show now.'
I closed my eyes and started listening to the sounds around me. Within a couple of seconds, I started hearing my own heartbeat. Taking a proper poster, I aimed my arrow at a goblin, which was a little away from the camp.
'Twang'
[You have killed a 'Goblin' Lvl. 10]
Luckily, i didn't miss it.
And not so surprisingly, it was deadly.
The arrow pierced its head with a small hole and the next second, the goblin fell with a small 'thud'.
'Others are not even alarmed yet. I need to kill as many as possible with this.'
Twang.
Twang.
Twang.
[You have killed a 'Goblin' Lvl. 12]
[You have killed a 'Goblin' Lvl. 9]
[You have killed a 'Goblin' Lvl. 11]
For the next few minutes, I carried on the same process. Obviously, I missed some. And with my tenth shot, I killed the sixth goblin that I could see.
'Twang'
'Huff... That's seven. Twenty-seven more to go.'
Some of them did realize something was wrong but still couldn't spot me here.
The Shaman was at a distance, so he was yet to notice anything. Though it was only a matter of seconds when he doubts something and casts a spell to reveal me.
'Should I kill it using 'Memories of Silence?' My arrows pierced through ordinary goblins easily but I still didn't know how strong my shots were. 'It's worth a try.'
I concentrated my arrow again and aimed at the Shaman which was at a distance from me. But due to its size being larger than a normal goblin, there's no way I would miss it.
Twang.
But it was a mistake.
'Crap!'
The arrow hit the Shaman and went slightly inside its body. But it failed to penetrate the body completely, and only made him slightly... very slightly injured.
And really angry.
'I really messed up this time'
Well, it wasn't like everything's over. It's just that I have to give up on my easy plan now. I could've further decreased their number if I didn't try testing my limits here.
Shamans have a strong magic power but they are very slow. It was still a little far away from my place so I was sure it would need at least three minutes before reaching me. So I had to clear this area before that.
I knew that I could no longer rely on my bow, and just as I feared, my location was revealed in the very next second.
The Shaman looked towards the place I was hiding from the distance and started casting a spell.
'... Okay, no need to be nervous. The situation's still under control. '
Wasting no time, I held my sword and jumped right into the base.
[Edenheart's Training Sword]
Grade F
Type: Weapon
Skills: None
(Warning: It is hard to be precise with this sword.)
Just as the name suggested, it was a training sword and with low preciseness at that. But training with this would increase my preciseness to a great degree when I use some other sword.
Normally, my sword was not made for an actual battle. But as I trained everyday with this sword, I didn't really have a problem.
'Right now, I need to focus in front of me. I don't have time to think of anything else.'
The goblins saw me and came rushing at me in no time. Some were holding a long knife and others came with falchions.
I immediately created a distance from them and ran towards the group with a comparatively lower number. I put my hand in my pocket and as soon as I touched the charm, I shouted the spell to activate the talisman.
{Fast}
The muscles in my legs grew sore for a second and then began to hurt like hell. Biting my tongue, I looked forward and saw the whole world slowing down as I ran towards them.
'Three goblins. All long knives.'
The pain in my legs became quite tolerable as time went by but my speed didn't decrease yet.
No, it was still increasing.
Slash!
Before any of the goblins could even react, I cut the head of the first goblin. The next second, I turned around in a circle and went behind the remaining two goblins and pierced the body of the second one while pushing it to the ground.
I was so fast that the two bodies fell almost at the same time.
[You have killed a 'Goblin' Lvl. 9]
[You have killed a 'Goblin' Lvl. 9]
The third one looked at me and raised its weapon. I kicked him in the leg and as he lost his balance, I withdrew my sword from the body of the second one and cut the head of the last one there.
'Shit! I thought they'll be like butter when I cut them. It feels like I'm cutting some kind of metal.'
I saw about ten goblins rushing at me now. My charm was still working at its peak as it had been only seconds since I activated it.
With a deep breath, I too started running towards them.
I ducked, dodging a couple of attacks and then jumped up, piercing my sword through one of the goblins. Holding this goblin as support, I jumped again and kicked two other goblins.
A goblin came at me the very next second before I could withdraw my sword from its body. I immediately took the long knife from the dead goblin and hit the head of the one come at me, right where the brain was.
{Fireball}
I withdrew my sword and cast a fireball to my front, in order to buy some time.
Taking my dull sword out of its body, I turned back and slashed two goblins rushing at me from behind.
'Huff... Huff'
It was already hard for me to catch my breath. Though I was fast enough for any of them to react with my high agility which was doubled now, my low strength stat didn't make it easy enough for me to relax.
And somehow their numbers kept increasing every second.
'... It feels like I'm fighting for hours.'
Sadly, it was still less than a minute since the battle started.
"Waaaaaaaa.... "
With a loud shout, I rushed at them this time. I repeated the same thing again and again. I killed one and kicked back the others nearby to reposition myself. I cast a fireball now and then to distract them or to finish them if they were still alive after my attacks.
I pierced the head of two more goblins with their own long knives. As they still weren't dead, I backed a step off and sliced their unprotected necks with my sword.
But this was getting harder for me as every second passed. My exhaustion was starting to catch up a little bit andthe strength in my body was getting less and less. But the worst thing was something else.
The effect of the talisman was slowly coming to an end.
The only thing that was favorable to me was that they were started to lose their mind like I planned. As a result, they charged at me without any formation or thinking. And so it was easy for me to tackle the next wave.
By this time, it wasn't really that hard for me to counter them after slowly assuming their attack patterns, only my exhausted body was a little problematic to drag along.
